Anybody Running One Of Those "uk Spec" Instrument Clusters In A '98 X70? I Have A Few Q's....

Recommended Posts

Bought and installed a 1998 V70 R cluster with gauges from UK, the 160 mph speedo, etc... As expected, the speedo does not read accurately, for example, reads 60 mph when I am going 55. I had heard something at one time about going to a dealership and they tell the car it is a UK car so they read correctly or something like that? What other settings will that change and, specifically, what do they change? If I can't get it to read accurately, I am pulling it and selling it.... Thanks for the help!

All I have heard is what you have been told. Hopefully you can get this to work because I have wanted one of these for sooooo long. If you do decide to sell it, let me know.

Good luck getting a dealer to flash it for you. Most will laugh and will refuse to do it, if they even understand what you're asking them to do. Danny knows how to do it but I have never heard of anyone else having a clue.

Is the speedometer correct when you have the right size tires on? Appears from your sig you aren't running OEM size anymore.

Shouldn't be a problem to make it read correctly. The cluster can be programmed using the VST (Volvo System Tester). Just go through the menus and find the screen to Program the Combi.

Would take about 2 minutes to do it, problem is finding someone willing to do it for you. Dealer might do it (probably rape you), but an independent with a VST would be your best option.

How do u do it with the vst I have one... What exactly do u have to do?

Oh, really? The Volvo supplied tool with the chip modules for ME4.x? Where did you find it? They're very expensive & hard to find - at least around here - I've still not been able to locate one. No Indies that I am in contact with would ever buy it, too expensive, when they can get a Snap-On or other scan tool that covers a full range of years/manufacturers :(
