tp_taylor
Will a 16T from a C70 bolt directly to a 96R Sedan? I am sure this question has been asked several times, I just want to keep your knowledge honed to a sharp point. TT
BlackT5
It will only be a direct swap if it's from a 98 C70.... otherwise, you will need a different downpipe
tp_taylor
hhhhmmm... I will look into the year of the transplant vehicle. Ridah, you seem to have a vast amount of knowledge of these bricks. Thanks again. TT
tp_taylor
#2.... If in fact I am able to get the 16T, simple swap or am I looking at possible engine codes and what-have-you?
BlackT5
It's really not that much bigger than your stock 15g so, you could run with it and be fine.. although you could get your ecu mapped for the slightly bigger turbo.. what ECU you running? kenhoeve
with the 16t and exhaust, upsolute or RICA can do a custom chip.
tp_taylor
I am in the midst of having the motor resealed (bad gasket on lower block) and money is an issue. Could I get equal performance if not a little improvement with the 16T w/out probs or an ECU upgrade? I will consider the chip in the near future, but with the engine coming out it would be the best time to swap T's. I definitely am aware that an ECU upgrade would bring out the best of the engine/turbo just thin in the wallet. Thanks again, TT
BlackT5
Hmm.. having the motor come out is definately not cheap. Do you already have the turbo? You see barely any gains from going from 15g -> 16T.

Thanks again, TT←I have swapped the 15G and 16T a couple times, now back on the 15G since I sold the 16T I had; while still on the same boost levels, say stock at 10 PSI I felt a difference with the 16T... I attribute it more to the lower mileage on the 16T, also it has a stronger wastegate to hold a bit more boost at redline. Stock programming is perfectly alright for a 16T
tp_taylor
Any reason why you swapped back to the 15G? Should I just do a rebuild on the one in the car? Sorry for so many ??? just want to get my ducks in a row. thanks TT
