SomeGuy
Car: '99 volvo s70 awd with 126k miles Problem: The last couple of times I've been driving on the freeway, I have had random surging with the car as I've been cruising at about 60-75 mph. It happens in the 2k rpm range, the rpm will go up 3-500 rpm for just a moment then drop back down, and do this for a few minutes of driving before going away again. It makes me a little uncomfortable on the freeway as it almost feels like having the ETM going out again. I am highly doubtful of the ETM though as that was replaced by the dealer about 5 months ago and the car drives and idles fine. Question: It kind of makes me think that the tc is going in and out of lockup, so maybe the SL solenoid is going out? I also doubt that the transmission itself is going out as the fluid looks good and is shifting and driving like normal when this problem isn't occuring. Any ideas? SomeGuy
did yours get any worse? And I'll definitely keep that in mind with the ETM
jschaefer7406
Hello, Brake pedal position sensor is likely going bad. Mounted on the brake booster in the engine bay, when they fail, they often cause intermittent lockup function and cruise control. Should be right around $85 from Tasca... Hope this helps, Joe
