Got A Newer Car (Non-Volvo Content)

So my other passion besides Volvos has always been BMWs. I have owned an E30 325is for a while and plan on just having it as an autocross toy. I had been looking for the past year for a newer car, but I wanted something that was quick, not impossible to modify, comfortable, and practical. I first considered a 2012 C30 T-5 R-Design, but decided it was overpriced as a new car for what it offered. I then considered an S60R, but I think too many people have them nowadays. Although its a nice car, the interior on them isn't as new as I would like it to look, or with enough bells and whistles.

I ended up getting a 2007 BMW E90 335xi sedan. In case anyone doesn't know these cars, its a straight-6, N54 engine (twin-turbo), 300 hp, AWD. Still under BMW warranty, 70K miles on it now. The high pressure fuel pump and injectors have already been replaced, and everything is up to speed. These cars are known to hit 400 hp easily with a $500 plug-in tune and exhaust.

Nice car! Catback- injen intake- and a JB4 will give you 360whp easy. Had an 07 coupe last year for a bit with 20K. It was a blast. The fuel pump also failed on a test drive a 100ft from the BMW dealership.. no stuff.

The best advice you can get about this car is you need to change oil every 3-4K. Im not kidding! These DI engine N54s suffer from carbon build up and run very hot. You need to be smart about what oil you use on this engine. A proper (synthetic) based class 4 oil for starters helps.

Edit.. Until you run out of warranty, just use the 0-30 "German" made Castrol Synthetic oil. After that look into the RLI Biosynthetic SHP oil. Food for thought.. but very nice car thats for sure. BSH also make a nice Catch can. All helps with the CB issues and preventative maintenance.

Thanks man. I actually went to school to be a BMW tech and used to work in the shop at BMW so I am very familiar with the N54 engine. JB4 actually has dyno results of the new software that says with exhaust and the tune it will bump it up to ~380 WHP. Very exciting for a reasonable price.

Ex used to have a 335i. Had a tune and exhaust and my god was that car fast. Have fun breaking bolts on it though. They used cheap ass steel. Great engine! Shitty bolts holding things together.

I want a 335i as my next car.

My cousin has one...he's put nearly $20k into it. He just ordered new RB (Rob Beck) turbos - he's expecting close to 5 at the wheels.

AWFUL pic, but here it is:

Very nice, you are going to enjoy that car. The N54 is such an awesome engine...I used to have an 08 135i with a JB3, Active Autowerks FMIC, BMS intake, Riss Racing exhaust, KW V2 coilovers, 19" Work VS-XX wheels and so on...

Used to? Details?

Sorry but I wouldn't consider any of the cars in your sig better than the 135i. Must be a reason.

I'm 23, thought it was time to move out of the parents house and buy my first home. So I sold the 135i to use as a downpayment on the house. As much as I miss the 135i and how much fun I had with that car, I think the house was a much better investment! :)
