Yeah, they have to pass tech. :)

No loose wheel bearings,

Tires can't be worn out, so street tires have to have tread on them.

battery has to have a real tie-down, not a bungy cord,

positive terminal needs to be covered on the battery (you can use duct tape for it)

Brakes work. :)

No loose items in the cabin or trunk. You will probably need to pull the floor mat on the driver's side if you have one.

I assume you car is not highly modified, so you shouldn't have a problem passing. Most of it is to make sure your car is in proper road going condition. If you don't have your own helmet, they have them there, but it is first come first serve. I don't think I have seen them run out of helmets for a school. If you have a helmet, it needs to be rated SNELL 2005 or better.

Be prepared for rain or sun. You will be out chasing cones, so if it is raining, you need to have the right clothes for it. If it is sunny, don't get burned. :)

I cant pass inspection...

Then your car isn't road legal either. :)

Horsepower isn't needed. I have driven a car with 100 HP that that beat my best time in the Volvo. The racing line is the same regardless of HP. It is actually easier to learn this with lower HP because it makes a bigger difference. Once you can navigate courses and are comfortable looking ahead to be able to setup for the next element, then you can add power. 500 HP isn't going to help you if you are lost on course or way off the racing line. We have plenty of examples of this. :)

Well said George, remember the 600 whp evo, that we cooked by like 6 seconds last year, yup horsepower is not always the answer.

If you really want to autocross and your car is not ready, check out getting a rental they are cheeep, I rented a dodge charger for 2 days for $54.
