Wiper Fuse Keeps Blowing

Recommended Posts

Had some heavy rain the other day in Green Bay, WI and was on the freeway when my driver’s side arm for the wipers finally stripped out and stopped working. Today I pulled the wiper transmission and swapped it out with a newer junk yard one. I mounted the motor up and installed it in the car and plugged it all in. As soon as I turned the key over to check it, the fuse popped. It does this every time now.

This is the same motor that was in the car, I read something about the motor will spin backwards right before it goes out, but I didn’t have this problem. It worked fine before I pulled it out.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Forgive me talking about the basics but I'm just trying to work the situation through. A fuse blows when there is a short circuit or an over current in the system. Did you say you were using the same motor? Check for water in the motor or in the plug connection? This might cause a short.

Went back to the junk yard and got a motor, problem solved, seems that the motor happened to go out the same time the wiper arm stripped out.

Thats my luck these days. I did go through everthing before replacing the motor, and some times its just right in front of you.
