Boost3237
I've called around and have been quoted $2,000 across the board to have my head gasket replaced. I have also been told if I replace the HG to also replace the timing belt. Would it be wise to do so or am I ok? car has 180k and the T belt was last done at 140k
Matty Moo
That's bullshit. Call Davie Motors in Davie. I deal with a guy named Sean at Volvo123, I think that's who he uses. OR call them and find out.
Dick Dastardly
2k for a head gasket is exactly why many of us pick up 8/70 turbos for dirt cheap....
sconeman
$1200 is more like it I'd say
erikv11
Yes you should do all of the timing components while it is opened up. If it includes resurfacing the head and new valve stem seals, $2000 is high but not outlandish. You can do the same job yourself for about $750 in parts and machine shop charges; that assumes all new Volvo brand valve stem seals and quality parts. You provide the labor. First time doing a HG, its not that hard at all. A little time consuming, but it's my first time and I know if I ever do it again ( I hope not) I could probably do it in a day or two if I had all the parts. The part that took the longest was waiting for the new head. There are a few really good write-ups. Doing it yourself will save you money that you can put into the car. This is the easiest time to do a lot of things since you don't have the head and manifolds in the way.
