Fin-Solo
So I just got a set of Bilstein HD Struts... I was thinking about a coilover conversion, and I know the process for the most part, I want to know if I have the right sizes on parts. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AFC-20134/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AFC-20133/ I have been following the koni DIY thing, but I am not sure if Koni and Bilstein share the same diameters. Also would a 6x550 2 5/8" be too much low?
Kevin.
Talk to JVC, or Matt. I think Gabe dabbled in the DIY coilover territory, not sure if they used HD's though....
NEU
HD are larger then Koni IIRC. Someone made a set I can't remember who so you'll have to search to find out
Fin-Solo
I've been searching for a bilstein how to for too long now. I think I'm gonna pay a little money to have this done.

andyb5
I think that Robbie used a set of Bilsteins for a while, not sure which variety though.
gilber33
Robbie used Bilstein Touring. You have to grind down the strut to make it thin enough to slide the threaded sleeve over. IMO, after riding on DIY coilovers and then buying a real set of (cheap) coilovers, I wouldn't waste my time on DIY coilovers. The ride sucks so much compared to actual coilovers. Especially now when you can get TA Teknix for $500.
kalvin
Agree with Gabe. The market for our cars has evolved beyond the need for DIYs.

mdlimy
agree with gabe and kalvin, coilovers are available for these cars and are not expensive.
