dublin14
A K24 would be a better choice over a 19T and cheap used.
volvos60t5x
but i will need the R manifold and modify the oil lines, etc correct?.
NEU
but i will need the R manifold and modify the oil lines, etc correct?. To run a K24 you'll need the oil and coolant lines but not the R mani. I'd run the R mani regardless of the turbo just cause it's so much better than the Japanmani. My '00R had the same as yours and just swapping to the R I noticed the boost would come on a lot sooner. volvos60t5x
well some questions here abour R k24 turbo: 1. The return line of the turbo fit perfect my 2.3L engine block. Its goes to the same spot?. 2. i have snabb intake, is that intake fit the R k24 housing?. 3. what difference should i see with the k24 vs 19T. 4. I guess i need to buy also the R intercooler pipe(charge pipe).
URO_S60
Seeing the head is off the block are you planning to port out the intake/exhaust ports to have them cleaned up and gasket matched? Seeing they didn't charge a whole lot for the rebuild, they might not charge a ton for that service also.
volvos60t5x
yes, we working on the head, i didnt tell them to port(polish), just clean, i will ask how much they charge to do it. I know the owner of the shop, thats why the labor on the head is not that high: on those picture you can see the surface of the head that goes to the block is already machined, just need to clean the valve cover side, do some job on the valves and install everything on it. Rsterns
If interested, here is a couple of shots that show the difference in surface finish with a P & P. Also, don't know if you need them, but I have a full set of valve springs from when I replaced them when I did my build. Nothing wrong with them, I just started fresh on everything. And complete... lookforjoe
Pics, checking the cylinder bore: I hope they checked laterally on the bore wear, not just fore/aft (as the engine sits), and below that unworn area... mine also checked out fine as you indicate, but if you measure just below that, and in the other direction, I'd be surprised if they are still not in need of a hone at a bare minimum, rebore more likely... volvos60t5x
i remember that they checked in 3 different positions across the cylinder, thats why he was surprised. But not bad idea to double check again. Hope i can get some feedback on the post #41 so i can order the K24 or stay with my 19T idea.
Jardim
500 cfm for the 19T vs. 537 cfm for the K24. You choose. Id get a better tune or a EBC if i was on a K24.
