atefitty
Failed emissions with slightly high HC and very high CO so I took the 850R to an emissions repair shop and they are saying during the smoke test there was smoke coming out of my intercooler weep hole..They say I need a new intercooler. That hole is designed to be there, Are they blowing smoke up my ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD or what.? I have ARD Green tune, aftermarket intake and blowoff valve. Any thoughts? Dick Dastardly
It's probably the blow off..you are allowing the charge air to vent to atmosphere and the ecu compensates by adding fuel.. * Unless lucky tuned for that.. It is not your intercooler weep hole.

ARD - Lucky
It's not the weep hole, that leakage is tuned for in the factory mapping actually. Check BOV that it's not open at idle and leaking

Check BOV that it's not open at idle and leaking Hey Lucky, thanks for getting my tune done so quickly..As you can see I still have some problems..I failed emissions badly. HC's were high and CO was stupid high..Tried to get a waiver but this emissions shop won't sign off on it becasue they say I won't pass Washington State test due to my modifications..They (Kerns Automotive) charged me $80 to blow smoke in my car though..I would need to spend $150 to get a waiver that they won't sign anyway due to the mods..How do I check it? Apply vacuum to simulate idle?
ARD - Lucky
Spray a bit of carb cleaner at the BOV vent. If the engine responds at all (idle flucuation) you got a leak!
atefitty
Spray a bit of carb cleaner at the BOV vent. If the engine responds at all (idle flucuation) you got a leak! I will try it tomorrow when I pick it up from Kenrs Automotive..I want to hear this emissions tech tell me how my weephole is causing me to fail emissions..I'm so close to getting this car right..If I can just cure this rich condition. I will keep you posted..Maybe you can recommend a tune shop up here that knows modifications or I can make a road trip to your location if you have a shop there if I'm unable to resolve this. 850maybe
Glad this smog tech isn't in my area. Sounds like they won't even pass you due to mods. Any way you can reverse the obvious mods? Any other shop you can take it to that won't pork you around because of mods?

Yeah, they don't want to sign my waiver because I have a aftermarket intake and they see the blow off valve..There's still alot of other shops I can go to though but I'm pissed they want to charge me $80 to blow some smoke and then tell me my weep hole in the intercooler is whats causing me to fail. Don't go to Kerns Automotive on Canyon road near Spanaway, WA.

atefitty
After a long fought battle I convinced the Tech, Calvin at Kern's Automotive that the weep hole in my 850R's intercooler was not the cause of me failing emissions..They agreed to keep the car another day..I initially bashed this place but the tech did listen to me and is not just blowing me off..The guy at the counter, Brennan, has been very professional and courteous throughout..Even offered me a ride home.
