Oreo931
I'm in the process of replacing/upgrading my engine power and ground wires. Have a couple questions. (For reference, I'm using 4ga knukoncepts wire.) Last night I replaced all of the engine/chassis grounds (the two that run to the battery, and the two grounding straps on the back of the engine). I'm happy with how it turned out, except for the connection of the bundle of ground wires that comes out of the wiring harness right near the back of the battery (pictured below - black wires w/ loom over them). I'm not happy with how it's currently connected to the negative battery terminal, so I was hoping for some ideas/input on how you dealt with that group of ground wires. This is how it looks as of now: The next step is to replace the power wires, but I'm not sure which positive battery terminal to use since there are so many different sized power wires. Is there another option besides connecting all the wires to a positive battery terminal? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Also, does anyone know roughly how much wiring should I order to replace all of the power wires? If not I can easily measure. (I ordered wayyy too much for the negative wires..) Also, if you have any pictures of your setup please post them.
Ghost Shadow
On one of my cars, i did the power cable from the starter to the battery and a new one from the alternator to the battery. used the same terminal as your ground so it looks uniform. IIRC you need a four port battery terminal. more the merrier, if there was ever a need/want to run power cable back to the amps.. look here for some ideas
Oreo931
Do you remember what you did with that bundle of ground wires I was asking about? Distribution block? Any other alternatives?
Ghost Shadow
dont remember seeing that, then again it was 8 months ago. LOL
gilber33
I used a distro block that had four inlets, I believe 8 gauge, and one outlet, 2/4 gauge. And then grounded out that exiting cable to the chassis.
Modus
Yes, take all those ground wires and crimp them on to a larger wire and take that to your battery. Or crimp a lug on all those wires then take the larger wire with another lug and connect that to the chassis with the rats nest. This will be your out of the way junction point. I chose to solder all those other wires to a bigger wire for the cleaner look. (Yes I did solder my large wires with a large soldering iron 250W) It looks clean but I have to much going on. But high current likes large conductors!
