bergmjs
That's a funny looking Sachs clutch, and how'd you break it all apart like that?Any 850 clutch should work, so long as you get a single mass clutch, such as the 850R clutch.
SlapShot
I'm not sure what you're asking here...lots of people (including myself) run an internal slave with a single mass flywheel and a 272218 clutch kit. Since your car has an M56H with an internal slave you could also swap the flywheel to dual mass (i have two if you need one) and run a late 98+ dual mass clutch/pp...but I wouldn't do this. Keep the single mass setup. Flywheel wise you're probably fine keeping the one you've got because you probably have the old style rpm sensor / circles on the edge of the flywheel instead of the newer square type. I would just get it resurfaced considering the crap rattling around in the bellhousing. Internal Slave Cylinder: 31259445 850R (pretty sure early T5m too) Clutch Kit: 272218 Pressure Plate Bolts (x6): 959219 Flywheel Bolts (x10): 9454743

Any 850 clutch should work, so long as you get a single mass clutch, such as the 850R clutch. This clutch is essentially a 850t clutch with the friction material swapped for a "pucked" setup by south bend clutches. The center section is all original. How it happened i have no idea, was fine for 8 months then within 20 minutes it went from cool to not cool. Something must of let loose and ate everything up. I was just wondering the reason my clutch went was because i couldnt mate the SM clutch with a Internal slave, with that said do i need pn: 1397077? stole this picture from Oreo391:
Jardim
Reason is why i ask about the pilot bearing is that the mechanic replacing this clutch for me says i need one. Are you guys using one?
Dick Dastardly
I run an internal slave with a single mass flywheel and an R clutch. It all works fine..
bergmjs
Quote from the pinned "Parts Bible" for a manual swap . Also remember that no pilot bearing is needed for the manual transmission. Toss the one from the auto trans out or you can try to eat it.
Jardim
Ok, now im going to have to convince that mechanic no pilot bearing is needed. Hes not even my regular mechanic. He wants me to use everything that goes with my cars year, even though i tried to explain my transmission is 5 years newer. Clutch and Slave from autozone, stuff like that. My regular guy will do it as long as i pull up a VS thread or something lol. Sucks when you dont have time, tools or somewhere to do your own work. When i did the swap i lucked out my friend just happened to have some space while he was in florida. Well thanks for the tips guys.Lol if i put a Autozone clutch in ill be doing this clutch job again in a month, the guy is crazy.
