Dump Umm
Well I cracked my radiator on my S60 2.4t the other day after trying to cross a ditch. I bought a new one online but am having a little trouble putting it in.... any input would be very helpful. I looked all over for a video or a how to step by step guide but cant find much. So far I have managed to make a mess by taking the front bumper off, disconnecting all of the lines that run to the radiator and inter-cooler removing all visible bolts and still its getting caught up. It seems to be getting caught on the AC lines...and everywhere has said that it needs to be removed from the bottom of the car So far all the websites have said to not take the AC lines off...but it doesn't seem possible to remove the radiator without doing this. Ihatespeedbumps
Front bumper can stay on, you don't need to remove that. The radiator does have to come out the bottom, and you'll need to snake it around the A/C lines. I usually drop the passenger side down first and then fish the radiator out. Supernatural
Basically, you are running into three 'radiators'...one, the big one, is the radiator, and it is not hooked to the air conditioning lines (although it gets hung up in then when you remove it. The others are the intercooler and the air conditioning. You separate them and drop the actual radiator out (the one that you drained the coolant from. You did drain the coolant, didn't you ?) The radiator has two hoses (upper and lower) and four bolts. Two of those bolts also hold the fan in place. There are a few electrical connections in removing the fan, and you have to move the air supply to the turbo (that big black tube on top)....and maybe one or two other things, but once you do it, you'll see that it is not a big deal. You do have to drop it out from the bottom. You don't have to take the front of the car off. I didn't.
