Suspected Ps Pump Bearing Fail

Just started making this sound with in the past 2 weeks. I think I narrowed it down to the PS pump as the hard line is vibrating to the same high pitched tone. Sound is coming from that area. Thought to be Alt bearing at first but stethoscope says no. I have not had to time to take the drive belt off to confirm but what do you guys think?

When the engine is at idle the sound is it's worst. When the accelerator is depressed for under load (driving or reverse) the sound goes away. However if parked and engine is revved sound stays. Completely takes me for a loop as a bearing sound should do the same as if driving right? Either way this is sooo annoying..

Should a used or new PS pump or be in order?

The video depicts sound in those above conditions.

video won't load...maybe it's me.

mine WAS making a noise at idle but not above that. Turned out I was low on fluid and the sound went away a week later after a flush.

Realistically, if you do end up changing it keep track of the orientation of the bolts. I've swapped out a couple and I still have to go to my other car as a reference every time.

Yea thats your PS pump. Check the fluid. My uncles is making the same noise on his XC and its def the PS pump. Not hard to change. And if you do change it, like Matt said make sure to keep track of the belts. Take a picture or something. It can be frustrating when you forget and don't have another car to use as a reference. You don't want to run it backwards on the Alt

You know I was thinking if it was a bearning then it would change with the RPM...

This sound happens when the fluid gets hot and doesn't change with the RPM as a normal bearing would.

Is there a stuck valve in this pump? Could it come back to life? The wheels turn lock to lock with no problems, sound doesn't change.

Nope, Bearings okay,,, imagine that. this sound is related to the PCV system, as a squeeze tube behind intake sound changes.

My '98 S70 makes a very similar sound. If you pinch off the small vacuum hose which runs off the PCV nipple to the passenger side of the intake the sound goes away correct? My sound is a little different and not quiet so high pitched. Maybe this is because I changed out that line to silicone awhile back. My pcv nipple is clean and the system was just replaced with no change in sound.

I've just accepted my sound until I find out its a sign of some other problem.

It's just plain Bizzare, When I first drive the car it warms up and no sound. Sound happens the next time I start the car when it's hot. I borrowed a borescope, instead of taking off the intake for invesigation. I'll advise if I find anything. Something is collapsing on itself. Like a pinched hose with vacuum.
