I got these used from a good VS member. Supposed to be RSI 139.5 rods, but why I should not put them in a 2.3 engine ? Is there a problem with ? Thanks for sharing !

I have used them and will have them in my current rebuild. No issues at all.

I'd throw down 15 or 45. I'm just interested in seeing what the chinese rods are made of so they can sell them so cheap. That and whatever saves people from a bent rod and a rebuild.

Chinese rods have been used in an Audi engine build running over 900 HP. Of all the H-beam rods put in VS'ers engines over the years, I have never heard of one failing.

Well, here are 4 year old SPM rods from Sten which are still outside of my car, since everyone is whipping out their rods in this thread.

I wonder how they compare to these options now.

Yeahhhh buddy!! Real deal right there.

Also, why is 400BHP the guesstimated limit? I think that's a little too conservative.

Because it is difficult to give an absolute number that will cover all engine setups. I believe with my setup the rods would have no problem seeing 500 HP, but my spooling is around 3500 RPM. Of course, my setup would never get that high and a turbo that could would spool after 4k.

While I agree, most turbo's that will make in the 400 BHP + range have about the same spool you do.

The issue with older rods is nothing to do with how they hold up, it's whether the wider cross section will hit the base of the bore, that's what has to be checked when installing

I would happily contribute 15 dollars to have these fully assessed. I think contributing to that kind of research is exactly what we should try to do more of on VS.

My only concern would be that the companies change distributors and it would once again be difficult to figure out which factory is producing which rods.

A little? You can get stock rods close to 400 if you really want to as a science project...and they look like plastic toys next to these rods.

Yeah... that was my point.
