TorontoR Posted August 7, 2012 Report Share Posted August 7, 2012 I noticed 2 warning lights on my 00V70R. The normal abs light! (i understand this is quite common abs module repair required). But, my engine light was also on. The mechanic said the engine light warning code came back having to do with key immobilizer. I found that a bit odd, since an immobilizer is not directly related to the engine. Anyone have any experience with this??? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dan A Posted August 7, 2012 Report Share Posted August 7, 2012 "Check Engine Light" can be related to any number of things not directly involved with the engine itself. It can be anything that the computer wants to warn you about. In this case, it may be the immobilizer antenna ring that needs to be replaced. Often the symptoms will be intermittent cranking, but no start. Ask your mechanic for the specific code and go from there. A new antenna ring is around $40 at Tasca and takes less than 1/2 hour to replace. For your ABS, go to http://www.midwest-abs.com He's a member here and does good work.
