Burn-E
Who ride......... bikes. That's debatable. Most of them just fawn over their fixies, post pictures of them, and put them up on the roof of their cars. They spend 100% more time talking about their fixies than they actually spend riding them. In fact, they would sleep with their fixie if it was practical. They are more obsessed with their fixie than the average VS nut is with their V/S/C70. First day of operation counted almost 8K crossings on just this one route. (probably most were not fixies,) This many bikes does create opportunity for thieves. (and a big group of bike nazis) http://bikeportland.org/2012/08/09/new-bike-counter-tallies-7432-hawthorne-bridge-bike-trips-on-first-day-of-operation-75744

(and a big group of bike nazis) http://bikeportland....operation-75744 8-10% of Portlanders commute to work each day via bike. Which as you admit, most of those bikes were probably not fixies means that the majority of them were the health conscious Portlanders who were around well before hipsters evolved and will still be around after they disappear like the fad they are. Portland is different from Chicago and Milwaukee and I was reminding Gabe of how things look where he sits. :P
