boxpin
Was replacing my stem seals today and the new ones do not fit snugly. They slide on and can slide right off again. This is not right. I purchased the set from FCP, called them and they said that the ones I have are the ones that everyone gets... essentially they are the correct part number. I can read the numbers on the one that came off the head, they are: 866 NW 7-9.8/13.2-9 PFP 6069 Assuming the important part is: 7-9.8/13.2-9 That number translates to: 97531278 ...cant find anything that cross references other than one useless site here: FCP parts I have: 027109675 Has anyone run into this? I am stuck
lookforjoe
There's only two styles (but different compounds of each), for early large stem & later smaller stem valves. Do you mean they are not snug where they press onto the guide, or around the valve stem? Either way, if they are loose, they are no good. I'd ask them to send another set. boxpin
They are fine around the valve stems, its the valve guides that they do not seat on. They are green, they said they are sending me some volvo oems. I am leary that I am going to be waiting a week and they will still be wrong. 831t5r
Ya believe early cars had green seals. Later are brown
boxpin
These were green, no fit.
lookforjoe
You can't go by the color alone - that's just to indicate the compound. Replacements are not only one color.
Volvo5.0
I come up with PN 3517893 for the seals if you still need them.
MattyXXL
John I know this is a stupid question, and I feel like an ass for asking but.... are you sure your getting the seals all the way down? Using a deep socket, and sometimes a small mallet To tap them till they lock in?

Using a deep socket, and sometimes a small mallet To tap them till they lock in? Ha, fair question. Yes. I can set it on the end/tip of the guide, push it on with zero effort and pull it back off again. I have taken the head to two local shops and they wanted to test it too...same results. They agree the seals dont fit. Lucky is sending me some to try. Hopefully they will work.
