New To Me 05 S60R

Bought this SR last week from one of my customers who "hated" the car. So for 4k and an agreement to pay his bill, it became mine. Needs a few things (as you'll be able to see) but I'm very excited to own. Had no intention of buying one, things just fell in place for this car.

Who's scared?

One of the reasons I acquired this car. Apparently the previous owner has been driving like this for more than a year. As a result the ballast is shot and the harness from ignitor to the ballast is rusted. Have some new lenses from EST on the way in addition to a used ballast/harness/ignitor. Debating on painting the silver headlight trim black.

The seats are in relatively good shape for the miles, unfortunately the drivers seat does have this big blemish. Going to have an upholstery repair shop look at it and see what can be done.

Future plans will probably the usual FMIC, DP tune. This will be a DD so nothing crazy. The stance is driving me crazy, can't wait to lower it.

You'll be hooked to the R seats and the overall feel of the car soon enough. Congrats on the purchase, she needs some TLC and some work. I would check if the AWD is working and remove the EBD ASAP if it's still there. If you need more info, Swedespeed's R forum has a bit more content and following there for this specific platform.

AWD works great and the EBD was removed long ago. Fortunately this guy I bought it from had done some work at our shop. Seats are light years better than the R seats installed in my T5M, and I think those are great.

nice, scor....fuck swedespeed. mostly fucking bunch of bitches there, there's is enough of us here to know their way around these R's

mine is at 164,500...i'm not scared.. just plan on forking over $1000+ on 4c's :(

Yea not a big SS fan. I've done a little trolling over there, mostly cosmetic stuff. The customer I purchased from had new rear shocks installed about a year ago. Front seem to be ok. I'm sure a set of lowering spring will be the knife through the heart though. I think these high mileage R's get a bad rap, not much different than other Volvos.

nice car :)

Thanks :)

Good purchase and I like the color combo.

The seat repair is cake, mine's popped in the same spot with only 34K miles. The interior looks good, especialy for the mileage.

SEM Classic Coat 17113 is the color of the interior plastic, if you want to cover the scratches and paint blemishes on the console. It took me 15 minutes to get mine out, and SEM paints hold up very well.

Thought it might be. We have an Dr Vinyl right next to the shop so I'm going to see if they can hook it up. Thanks for the paint code, I was in search for something. Any special prep before you painted it?

I wet sanded the spots on mine ever so slightly just to remove the difference in texture. Then lots of rubbing alcohol on a rag to remove grease and contaminants. Just make sure you do it on a warm, dry, sunny day. I did mine in 90+ deg weather and I had it back in the car in 2 hours.

A car this level and seats are falling apart at less than 40k? That's lame.

8 years/34K miles. Figure the owner pushed on that same spot 2-4 times a day getting in and out after his 2 mile commute and there's your rip.

Thanks, can't wait to give this a shot. Any problems with flaking afterwards?

You say that, but you're on there as well.

There's way more existing archived content there regarding the P2 R. Whereas on VS, it's just getting started as more VS members jump onto the P2 platform.

For example if you were looking for answers regarding;

-power folding mirrors, how to install and what kit?

-what are the differences between the years of P2 Rs?

-how to repair the angle gear, what are your options?

-which FMIC and where to buy?

-available tunes and what are the pros and cons of each?

I would wonder where you can get this info on VS. I could be wrong and pessimistic of VS, but it's probably more accurate over at SS, and easier to find.

Nothing against VS, I love it here but the info here is primarily P80/Gen. 1 content. Why reinvent the wheel when there is free information that's already there? just saying...

And vice versa, I refer people to VS regarding certain finds or content all the time...

Sure on SS there's a lot of bitching, talk about Pegs, and mostly cosmetic stuff, oh snap.. isn't VS is pretty much the same?

Same thing in the same spot happened to the seats in my S60. I think the design has that stitching corner too tight. Repairs are cheap though and a good place will use thread with a little extra give to it. Nice find by the way. Can't say I'd mind an R ;-)

Depends on the previous owner, the car, and how big he is. My car is around 130K now, and no issues with seat stitching in that corner.

From the guy that actually discovered this, SEM #17113 is not an exact match, but close enough. You'll need to re-color the entire panel to conceal the color differences. You can't simply do a spot fix.

Absolutely, I should have mentioned it: you'll be spraying the entire piece. I held it up to another console (05-07 console) and the colors were identical to most people. But in bright sunlight, to someone who knows what to look for, the SEM was slightly different.
