Argyle Fender?

And how many of them on this forum have looked like ass?

All of them.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty positive you were the first person to knock that kid who painted his wheels smurf blue...hiyoo irony

The kid who painted his wheels smurf blue didn't just paint them smurf blue. He posted pictures of himself in a man-dress, spraybombing his wheels different colors (I believe one was green, or grey), getting overspray all over his yard and patio furniture, and looking like an ass generally. He deserved to get flamed.

The point is, no one flamed him for painting his wheels blue because he copied the first guy that painted his wheels blue.

Get your fist out of Matt's ass and maybe what you type will make more sense :P (sorry Matt)

Why would you give a shit if it was someone elses idea? If you like it, do it. Dont change your mind because Reid is butthurt about the idea. Its a good look and I am sure Matt has no copyrights on in. DO you Matt? ;)

Imitation is the best form of flattery

I agree. So what if there are two volvos rolling around the US with argyle patterned vinyl on the fenders? It's your car, do what you want.

maybe, just maybe one or two days out of 365 days in a year these two volvo's might be seen together at SOWO,

So i did train horns in my VR, you are not allowed to do it to your car. What kind of thinking is that? BTW, i am the first to wrap my roof in a 3m flat black, so no one else can do it. :P LOL

Actually, I take exception to that - Justin came up with some pretty cool PC wheel colors back in the day.

Chris over on SS had you beat on that by years. So did Craig (EVL WAGN) but who's counting?

OP, do whatever the hell you want. It's your car and your money.

Do what? Train horns? 3M flat black wrap the roof?

Horns, I do think I am the first to do full blown big train horns. And they totally hidden.

Wrapping the roof in 3m flat black, still think I am the first.

Craigs is paint and so was Chris iirc and they both older Rs, but not a 04-07 R.

There was a guy back in the early 2000's on VS who put train horns under the back bumper of his black 850R. He had a sig with a pic of his car and a train and a caption that said something about them sounding the same. And he was by no means the first to put train horns in a car, only the first to post about it on VS.

Point of the story is: chances are someone has already thought of your "original" idea, but that doesn't mean you can't do it and enjoy it too.

This stupid thread has devolved into something even dumber. Someone is talking about blatantly copying an idea that a single member had. How many of you would be excited if I tried to make my car look exactly like yours (obviously not the case here - I'm exaggerating for emphasis)? If you put thought into visually separating your vehicle from a crowd, it's irritating to see another person directly imitate that.

Obviously there's going to be some overlap in mods. No one's going to call a member out for upgrading horns or swapping in an 18t. But those alterations are entirely different than spending time on a custom idea, however simple that idea is.

I look forward to the OP's unique idea!

I am going to agree with Pat on this. If it were about putting pegs on his car, so what. But Matt's Argyle fender is a pretty unique idea and look. I used to hate it when people would do shit that I would do. Back in the 80s you could order Vans shoes from the factory in Orange county in any combination you could possibly think of...sure as shit every time I ordered a totally fucked up pair this kid would order something exactly or almost the same.

Fuck..I mean I want to do my car in flat red, but that kid did it a couple years ago (not even on here anymore) and I am still apprehensive about it. I thought of it before I saw it (because I have seen flat red Porsches..so not totally original) but still If I were to do something totally custom I would like to feel like I was somewhat original. same with wheels..I know what I am getting this spring and I will not say what they are because I am sure someone will order a set and....

I that was Patrick from Pa, I've heard him let those things rip well before Steve at Carlisle...

Didn't Justin have train horns on his silver R?

Yes Justin had them on his old vR frankenstein. It was one of the first things he did on it after he "fixed" the title, eventually he did the orange TDRs too...

Steve I think your "claim to fame" to be the first and only one to put strobes in your c70 turnsignals.....
