volvoskiah
I have the head on my car and everything is looking good but I am using the 98 thermostat housing. Now there is an extra coolant line running on 99+ so i'm wondering what can be used to block it off. I know that this has been done: The 99+ thermostat housing was used here though. phunktified
Needs to be plugged. I got a plug from member sjmcarz, he had ordered a lot of 5 or so a few months back. so he may have a spare. It was: Dorman # 090-165 oil drain plug I swear I had pulled a similar plug off a spare 96 head I had here I was scrapping right after I had got the dorman plug, but never doublechecked to see if they were the same size as I was getting a scrap run together ..... Its somewhere on my workbench though, I'll look for it tomorrow..
phunktified
also noted from that thread: BMW oil drain plug washers should fit exactly and are easy to find.
Commander Riker
You can either plug it or get the associated plumbing. I used a 98 T-stat housing on my 07 engine assembly. The coolant line, to my understanding, runs from the Tstat housing through the PCV line on the breather box to help warm it up. There is a landing on the 98 Tstat that I drilled and tapped with Dan's help.
