mune237
Hey folks, I did a search and couldn't find anything on these K&N vs OEM. I found a few threads on the spin-ons by Chuck. But nothing on the cartridges Does anyone have any concerns, issues, suggestions on these cartridge type filters? I think I'll go ahead and order a 6pak @ $33.08 tax and shipping included. of the K&Ns Here's a link to the K&N page. http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=ps-7002 I'm not buying these from them
Keaton85
Personally I stick to Mann filters. High quality and they are inexpensive. Use Advace Auto Part coupons and get them even cheaper then anywhere else.
Keaton85
Scratch that, Advance Auto Parts used to have the HU819 Mann filter for $4.99, but not it's $16.49. BUT they have the K&N for cheap
jschaefer7406
Can't comment on the K&N filters, but Mann cartridge filters are garbage. They are the OEM supplier for the spin-on filters, but Mahle produces the cartridge filters . $33 for six of them to your door isn't bad though. K&N usually produces a pretty good product, let us know how they hold up . Joe
Keaton85
Why do you state that Mann cartridges are junk?
jschaefer7406
I have experienced the Mann filters becoming hard and brittle, crumbling in your hand if the pleats are squeezed when removed. The Mahle cartridges remain pliable, even when left in for way too long... Not saying they don't filter well, just wouldn't want the element disintegrating and going through my engine . db130
Mune, from which vendor are you buying a 6-pack for $33.08 shipped?
mune237
I have a connection with a wholesaler of GM ACDelco parts, but she can get aftermarket stuff too. There was an on-line company that came close to her cost. Found it http://www.ourdealsrock.net/45-ps-7002.aspx#.UIHNsULvaSo
Keaton85
On the other side of things. I've removed hundreds of the Mann filters and never once had a brittle one. It's all we used at my old shop...
