dimka18
Ima be doing timing belt change along with the water pump and was wondering whats the best coolant to run from the $30+ a gal oem volvo coolant? Just regular conventional green coolant or some people say run Zerex G-5 coolant just thought id see what the forums say.
Kevin.
I've always used OEM coolant but I'm sure Prestone or something similar wouldn't hurt anything
bdimag
a quick search shows that Zerex G-5 is roughly the same price as volvo coolant... $15 @ tasca volvo + flat $8 shipping (p/n 9434699).... or pay like $0.75 less @ eeuroparts.com if you hit the free shipping limit. And another question anyone ever use Bosch water pumps?Zerez is 15 bucks a gallon as well. Never thought about looking on tasca for 15 bucks id get oem. half the price of dealer. Kevin.
yes OEM coolant is not watered down, you have to mix it with water

dimka18
No bay area anytime soon, to cold now to go there haha... I ordered 2 gallons on tasca along with some other things. Just need to figure out how good this Bosch water pump is that i got. Says OE replacement so im guessing bosch makes them for volvo. Got it on Amazon for 50 bucks. Big Will
Bosch generally makes good stuff but I don't think they are the OE supplier for water pumps to Volvo. More likely Aisin was the factory supplier. But for 50 dollars that's a great deal!
dimka18
What about thermostat? should i replace it at 112k or just leave it be? No problems with it yet so far.
