I just got my '95 850 turbo wagon a few weeks ago and I love it! So far all I have done is a manual boost controller and a pillar mount boost gauge along with some misc. repairs and junkyard parts.

I would definitely do this mod asap, especially if it increased this cars off the line performance.

Been super busy with my senior year of high school.

Things have slowed down thankfully. I will hopefully start working on the project again. My area was receiving a lot of snow and that's the main reason why the project slowed down.

A large majority of the software is done I need to trouble shoot a few things and finish up the rest if the software and revise a few hardware things.

Hopefully by summer I can get shipping.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I actually used this project to get me into Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Technology.

But anyway my weekdays have calmed down so ill start to get going again.

Sorry It's been on hold so long!

Good for you that's really impressive! Keep at it (:

I remember WPI! Never went, but passed most my amateur radio exams there long ago and got to play on the club station (W1YK) a few times. I grew up not far from there.

I likely would have attended their computer science program, but ended up getting the job I wanted without the degree, and never looked back. Maybe I'll go back to school some day, but certainly for EE and not CS.

Congrats on getting in! :)

How and where did you learn all of this? And I thought I was special for changing my rms at 19...

Im all self taught. Mainly through reads lots and lots on the internet.

Unfortunately, my sister is back home from college and she starting using my 850 NA(auto) so ill have to work around her to try and get some time to work on the car.

Maybe ill just whip up a simple simulator bread board with some LED's and crap so i can just code on the bench. Would be so much better.

  • 2 weeks later...

Did a little bit of work today.

Did some bench testing and fixed a lot of errors i made in the code.

Took it out to the car to do some testing and was having some troubles with switching between TCU mode and paddle shifter mode. It then started raining so I didnt have any time to diagnose it.

Hopefully tomorrow I can figure out the issue.

Im hoping it will be possible to switch between the tcu and paddle shifters, or else, well this wont work out too well.

So my Arduino recently fried my laptops mobo and all other devices connected to the USB Port.

Running Ubuntu now until I can get everything up and running on the new laptop.

Before it blew I was doing a lot of work on using the existing transistors on the TCU.

This will cut down on cost and complexity. Figure out the shift solenoids and lockup solenoid just need to mess with the line pressure solenoid which i think i figure out. I can also use the onboard 5V regulator. not sure about that one though because to use it you need to turn it on and it may supply power to the trans CPU.

Once i get windows xp reinstalled on the new laptop and all my software restored i think im going to do a whole design / revision.

Lots of stuff I want to change and i think using the TCU's existing hardware is the way to go.

Update:

Got my new laptop up and runing so I did a little playing around the the TCU and the stock transistors.

Got Shift Sol 1 & 2 transistor working, also lockup solenoid and line pressure solenoid transistor.

Not sure if im going to use the 5V reg on that board because when you turn it on it turns on the CPU, which is not desirable.

Also found what looks like a "main" power transistor which supplies 12V to all the other power transistor when turned on.

I used to think that the line pressure solenoid was 5V, but i believe its 12V.
