R Not Reading At Emmisions

R MOOSE

Recommended Posts

Car: 96 850R 150k on it.

I went for the 3rd time to do the emissions today and they keep telling me the same thing,"your car isnt reading...you need to put more miles on it".

I have put over 600mi on it since the 1st time I went there 3 weeks ago!

The car isn't throwing any cels/no lights on the dash.

Has anyone else had this problem? I really need help here.My temp plates are up in 3 days.

hmm. i don't know how specifically this applies in CT, but at least in CA, OBD-II readiness became such an issue that the BAR exempted readiness when reading from the sniffer. you may want to have a look and see if this is also the case.

oh and thanks Mike, I will try and find it on your site.

Most of the time you will see the O2 sensor categories go into ready pretty quickly. MAYBE your rear O2 is being finicky? idono but that part is strange.

Wouldn't that throw a cel?

how long does it take to cycle? Is there a certain thing i have to do to get the "not ready" to say "ready"? I have been driving it for 3 weeks now!

It has to do with so many miles at X then so many at X

If its all highway. You won't hit the lower values needed or vice versa

I have this problem with my '98 since I re-registered it in Arizona...it won't pass the readiness check anymore. I drove 900 miles with all sorts of driving and it still would not turn ready. I'll try again at Christmas with some tweaks Lucky made to my SAS readiness (I removed the system years ago).

Some states have exempted '98s from reading ready but unfortunately AZ is not one of them. I never had trouble in NY and they also plug in to the OBD-II port...

The drive cycle is available on the web somewhere but even if you follow it, sometimes it doesn't go to ready.
