I finished replacing my heater core which was a breeze with the write up on here, but when I went to top off my coolant all hell broke loose. Right away my hood release cable snapped at the lever and only the drivers side popped. Okay well there was still enough cable to pull on with a pair of needle nose pliers , so I closed the hood and tried again. Same thing, but this time the remains of the cable snapped off from pulling so hard to no avail. Now I'm left with a 2/3 unlatched hood and no way to get it open. I have access to the drivers side hood latch and I was wondering if there was a way to unlatch the pass side from the drivers side (since im sure they both link up in some way) ? TaskMule Posted November 5, 2012 Report Share Posted November 5, 2012 I can't remember exactly how I did this, but basically, got under the car and pulled it from there. Its a bit of a b+itch to get to, but I did it. Its waaay up. You'll need a flashlight, and maybe a long coathanger to hook the cable and pull it to unlatch the hood. After I got it open, I took a piece of aircraft cable and made a loop, and attached it to the latch directly so that if the main cable ever breaks again, I can reach under the bumper, grab my new cable and yank to open.
