My fuel pump seems to be tired and cutting out..What are your guys opinions on IPD's aftermarket one? the sell an OEM one but it's nearly $400..they also sell Bosch pumps you can fit into your old assembly..I'd rather not bother cutting and splicing though. Thanks.

atefifty,

How many miles when your fuel pump went bad?

1. Below is Fuel Relay troubleshooting that I wrote.

The bottom line is jump 15 + 87, if car runs, then relay is bad.

You can actually check the well-being of the fuel pump via the relay socket using an Ohmmeter. See Step #5, the fuel pump should have 1.0-1.5 Ohm.

All is included here:

2. rmeuropean.com now carries Walbro for $61:

Are you sure it's not the fuel pump relay?

Also the walbro inserts are the way to go. IPD is probably the most expensive source though.

Yes, It could be the relay but I have 174K now and I'm actually wanting to do both so I know everything is replaced.

FYI, I'm pretty sure there is a knock-off market for Walbros. May want to try and find out if the product you're buying is rumored to be a fake or not.

And Keaton, you're claiming they can run 300k? I'm at 175k on my original and was thinking about replacing mine before it dies instead of when, because I thought I was entering the range, but if they run that long I think I'll just try and source some relays to keep in the trunk.

No need for relay, just make a small jumper wire and store it in the glovebox. When needed, simply jump 15 and 87.

See the DIY I posted above.

At 175K, if you regularly travel out of town, I'd put in a good (non-fake) Walbro and call it a day. I hate getting stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Fuel Pump is like spark plugs, they have their better days...

After ___ miles, they go bye bye.
