pcguru000
Is there anyway I could splice into the line between the stock HU and the main amp? Is there an adapter or something? Just trying to figure a way to get a signal to an amp without getting rid of the stock system- really love the stock audio, just don't like the rattle I get from the door speakers... feel like a sub would just punch but not shake and give the rest of the system a break. Any thoughts?
BEJinFBK
Use your PC Guru style to search: Blitzsafe - USASpec - Grom Audio. You will be pleased with the results! An amp / sub is a pretty easy add, too.
pcguru000
These are all really neat, but don't accomplish what I need... for aux in I just have the tape adapter- that doesn't bother me... perhaps i'd jump on a Grom box if it begins too. But like I was saying- that's unrelated, I just want a pre-amp audio output from the HU - not a Aux in. - one that is RCA preferably so it can just plug it right into this other amp. BEJinFBK
Yes - Search "Volvo Amp" on eBay. Amidst all the alternators and old amps, you'll find several adapter cable options..

pcguru000
Actually meant to post back here... Steve will enjoy this. After getting my extra sub and amp setup with the 20 dollar "stock PLUS after market amp" ebay splitter cable I find out that my 901 isn't actually working properly. The fader knob seems to be jacked up- all the way right= all front audio (good) - all the way left = only right from audio.... WTF Also don't think my hat shelf speakers are working at all.... So now I am running full front audio + 1 sub in the back. Hmmm maybe it is time for a proper baseline.
Ghost Shadow
LOL, dont say that. You make me sound like all OEM is evil. that not what i mean. its time to say goodbye. We hold funeral services every Saturday @ 10am for the dearly departed OEM's in the fire pit in the rear yard.

Does that still happen if you unplug the adapter cable and plug it back together stock? There have been a few reports of those eBay DIN to RCA cables being funky. pcguru000
Does that still happen if you unplug the adapter cable and plug it back together stock? There have been a few reports of those eBay DIN to RCA cables being funky. Yes sadly this was the first thing I checked. The adapter from ebay actaully caused some strange stuff - two of the RCA outputs had crossed at one point- this blew the 10 amp radio fuse (how i don't know... doesn't make any sense that this sort of power was here...) of course they've now been capped. But even going back to totally stock I get the same results. I suppose maybe this happening could have jacked up my 901 somehow but I think it was already funky- Its been through hell I think I found some crazy wiring in the trunk (those ghetto wire splicers from walmart) all over the place running to the rear speakers... which (btw) aren't even working- confirmed that this morning. This looks expensive! lol Anyone had any luck just crossing left/right pre-amps and setting a tiny amp up for the center channel (not true surround but a mono mix). Ironically i was looking at all of this last year in December and never made any progress or changes because of $$ at least this year I've got some savings and a better salary lol @ Steve I think I am finally coming around to the dark side. But I still don't wanna spend more than 400 on a head unit Can you recommend any double din's that offer a center channel in that budget? I don't care about DVD or Touch screen even... I do like having a proper volume knob.

I do like having a proper volume knob. the din cable has a remote turn on for the oem amp inside. defective cable can fubar your radio. thats why i cut and splice in and solder my own. faster and cheaper all day everyday. Kenwood with garmin, spend it. you can hack it and mod it. http://www.navitotal.com/forumdisplay.php?88-New-Maps poke around that site, become a member. you will NEVER EVER LOOK BACK, thank me later. custom voices, custom icons, custom maps, custom POIs aka speedo cams LOL JUST SOOOO MUCH you can do LOL Simple investment into a garmin based double din can save you some decent $$ when you get that redlight ticket/speed camera ticket. baltimore has over 50 speed camers, philly has over 35 redlight cameras. broad and vine st made over $2.8 million dollars alone last year. more and more are going up every day! when i drive, i want to know, Know is half the battle, http://youtu.be/pele5vptVgc
