theForgottenone
Chicagoans nearly 6 times as likely to be shot by police than New Yorkers Must be something in the water. It's gotta be the water. What about profiling?

caanglin
Not bad. You would figure they would have shot more fellow officers with 377 rounds. http://miami.cbslocal.com/2014/05/06/police-shooting-frenzy-raises-concerns/ Whats the over/under on Chicago this weekend? Burn-E
It was 90 degrees today - hottest of the year so far. I'm betting 35 shot and 10 killed.
Burn-E
Seems like the rain from Saturday night on into Sunday evening cooled things down. 4 dead and 22 wounded over the weekend. But there were 15 shot overnight between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning which continues to add credence to the insight that warm weather in Chicago means OK Corral shootouts all over the city. Burn-E
In all categories EXCEPT for Murder and Nonnegligent Manslaughter you would be correct. I'm using the FBI's Uniform Crime Statistics for 2012 since that's the most recent State/City level self reported numbers 2012 - the two relevant categories Reported murder and NNM: Chicago: 18.46 per 100,000 Indianapolis: 11.57 per 100,000 Aggravated Assault: Chicago: 453.11 per 100,000 Indianapolis: 711.50 per 100,
Commander Riker
Mike must have not been online yet... but I know this is a developing story. Guy shoots people from a rolling car... guessing it was not a long gun? http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/24/us/california-shooting-suspect/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 Wonder why they aren't showing this yet : http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=4fd_1400921453
Burn-E
My brother-in-law is about as far right wing as you get without being in a militia. Like Mike lives in MSNBC, he only ever quotes from Hot Air, Breitbart, and The Blaze. It's to the point where my wife has to preface any articles he links to with, "now this is coming from my brother but..." So this cracks me up because it hits all the right points. Piston Slapper
"Failure to recognize that the point of the state is giving it a monopoly on force" I realize that it's supposed to be a joke... but that's not the point of a government, our founding fathers explicitly put the 2nd amendment in to prevent a state monopoly on force. People buying into thinking like that is a really dangerous thing for all of our civil liberties.
theForgottenone
To me, the biggest issue is the society. Kids (people) these days are just plain psycho and insane. If you have problem with your life then take action for yourself not against or impact others around you. I have no problem if people want to commit suicide or kill themselve in a way that do not involve others. Last week was a shooting at Seattle University. This week is 3 shooters at the high school that I attend and graduated from. It's about 2 blocks from where I live right now. It is just sad how these kids trying to gain fame through these hideous act. http://www.oregonlive.com/gresham/index.ssf/2014/06/reynolds_high_shooting_police.html#incart_river_default Reynolds High School is the 35th school shooting since Sandy Hook: That is about 18 months ago. http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/06/how_many_school_shooting_incid.html#incart_most-comments
Commander Riker
Time for this again : Part of our problem... is that our society gets off on this stuff. Or at least, that's what the media believes. They froth at the mouth for these kinds of acts to happen, BECAUSE RATINGS. The guns aren't the method. Guns could be replaced by bombs, swords, etc. The video above nails it.
Burn-E
Interesting details. http://www.oregonlive.com/gresham/index.ssf/2014/06/oregon_high_school_shooting_gu.html#incart_maj-story-1 The shooter used an AR-15 type rifle in the attack and carried, but did not use, a semi-automatic handgun. Investigators also recovered nine loaded magazines with the capability of holding several hundred rounds. The shooter also had a large knife. He was wearing a non-ballistic vest used for carrying ammunition and other items. He also was wearing a multi-sport helmet with a camouflage design. The shooter obtained the weapons from his family home. The weapons had been secured, but he defeated the security measures. Kid comes from a military background and was involved in the JROTC at the school. Parents divorced 4 years ago. Expect this to follow the strict home and stressed out kid route for a storyline.
