caanglin
I'm sure its just a coincidence. "Chicago crime rate drops as concealed carry applications surge" "Since Illinois started granting concealed carry permits this year, the number of robberies that have led to arrests in Chicago has declined 20 percent from last year, according to police department statistics. Reports of burglary and motor vehicle theft are down 20 percent and 26 percent, respectively. In the first quarter, the city’s homicide rate was at a 56-year low." http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/aug/24/chicago-crime-rate-drops-as-concealed-carry-gun-pe/#ixzz3U1tCcZfX
flyfishing3
We will need Alain, but isn't it illegal to have gun in Chicago limits? thus proving banning guns works?
Piston Slapper
Nope, the thugs know there's now a very real chance of them being legally shot when committing a crime, it's a very effective deterrent.
Burn-E
You're quoting a Washington Times (it's not the New York Times, it's not the Washington Post, it's a conservative rag run by the Moonies) article on gun crime. Since February 2014 it has been legal to conceal carry with a permit in Chicago under certain restrictions. There are many reasons why the article is drawing a causation when it's merely a correlation pattern in effect here. The logic is flawed and I don't have time this morning to explain why except has it occurred to anyone that neither the article nor Mr Pearson actually provide any data to support their claims? And maybe you might want to look more closely at why the numbers have dropped in Chicago? http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/June-2014/Chicago-crime-statistics/ Oh, and lest we forget, gun homicides were on par with 2013, in fact a little higher in 2014 although total shot was up by several hundred. So much for reduced crime due to concealed carry... http://heyjackass.com/category/2014-chicago-crime-murder-stats/

flyfishing3
Not many gang bangers reloading... yes, short half life. won't last long. How long, i'll have to think about but there are WWII loads laying around that are good. I'm tempted to agree its impossible to regulate guns, so sad to say that but big money will see to that. A convicted felon can walk into any wally world and buy ammo no questions asked.
