Gideon35T Posted December 27, 2012 Report Share Posted December 27, 2012 "Shift angle sensor" to be more specific. Did you ohm it? Check your service manual for the value it should be. $90 looks to be the going rate. Once you replace it build and add a heat sheild. They fail because they get too hot due to header proximity. s_moneh Posted December 27, 2012 Author Report Share Posted December 27, 2012 i didn't ohm anything. my symptom is this: driving forward its mint solid shooter accelerates great everythings cool. the second i throw it into reverse i can do like 5km an hour before it starts to sputter and backfire its bag off. i manage to read the code it gives out and its 5 blinks. now for this model 5 blinks means the angle sensor is locked or somthing like that. i read on a couple other forums that it generally means u need a new one. so i'd rather replace it and hopefully make it work. just trying to see if there's a site kinda like for us volvo people that has the insanely cheapest price for it. if not so far i have 90$ shipped but i dont even know if its the right one. i never thought about the heatshield idea but its a great idea its sooo close to the exhaust, it makes sense as to y it would be a common problem. 854TGA+ Posted December 28, 2012 Report Share Posted December 28, 2012 Fresh off the press! We doubt very much it's your angle sensor! We have seen multiple 500's acting up the same way. Here is what we have found: Front brake pivot bolt is seized or seizing up / this some how causes the rev limiter to kick in early causing a condition exactly as you described it. Yes this condition with trip the angle sensor code! If you need the sensor we carry it in stock. I'll PM you the price if needed.
