boxpin
Our 95 N/A has stopped running. There is no fuel at the rail. Fuel pump is not getting a signal. There is voltage at the fuel pump relay and I can jump it making the fuel pump run ...then the car starts. I am not getting a signal from the ECU (pin B27). I re-seated the ecu and the car started and ran for a day. This evening its dead again. Same issue. Question: Since the fuel pump relay simply needs a jump and the supply voltage is switched...can I jump it permanently?
Keaton85
Open the fuel pump relay and see what the circuit board looks like. Most times you can fix them with either new capacitors and/or reflow the solder joints on some of the resistors. I wouldnt bypass the relay, if you can't repair it then replace it... boxpin
The relay is fine. I put it in another one of my wagons and it works. I also put the working cars relay in the non working and it still didnt start. Pin 31A on the relay is not getting power from the ECU pin B27. I suspect the ECU has a bad solder joint. Keaton85
Open it and check or swap out a know good ECU. Sorry, the way a read it was that you just wanted to bypass a bad relay.
boxpin
Here is more. I turned on the key and heard a buzzing under the hood. Found it to be the closest relay to the battery above the radiator, the big gray one. It was just buzzing, loud. I reseated the ECU, no change. I then checked for spark. When I turned on the key but did not crank the engine it was sparking...thats right...sparking without the engine turning over. It was faint but there. I put it back together and tried to start it....It started! Why, I dont know why. Then it ran for a few minutes then instantly shut off and the relay began buzzing again, instantaneously. Sounds like I have a bad ground somewhere. What does that relay do?
jdlc
It's fuel injector/pressure relay or something like that , unique for 94/95 maybe even 93. Replace it and you will likely be all set - I had similar issue with my previous 855T and that gray relay was all fubared inside it was rattling when I removed it. I replaced it and my car fired up one-click.
boxpin
I replaced the relay. Unfortunately no diff. Here is a video of the relay buzzing and another thing I noticed...there is no check engine light when I turn on the key and watch the tach in the second video, it jumps up when the key is turned on. That might explain the spark I was seeing the other night. http://s566.beta.photobucket.com/user/boxpin/media/A7F2DCBD-C55D-4893-B29B-94C21FFB3ED8-2454-0000030AAD7C1E12.mp4.html http://s566.beta.photobucket.com/user/boxpin/media/01399A08-7FA2-485A-BCB8-1238F70FC872-2454-0000030C16517383.mp4.html

boxpin
Keep in mind that the problem is beyond the fuel, I believe it is electrical. Look what else I found. http://s566.beta.photobucket.com/user/boxpin/media/ED63537A-8BA1-4E73-AAD7-9C5C5C1A457F-2454-000003132A42BA54.mp4.html
boxpin
Swapped the ECU, no change Swapped the cam pickup, no change Swapped the flywheel pickup, no change
Scootdiggity
That wiring looks really stretched on relay and that harness is known to break down as I have had to replace that connector on every 850 I have owned Also that relay is not clipped into the factory spot hence the overstreched wires
boxpin
Noted, but if you look at the wiring on an N/A you'll see that it is the location. Turbos are before the vacuum valve. But, just to give your thought a try I did probe each wire with a continuity meter and they all checked out.
