California Smog - 'passed'

I successfully passed California Smog for the second time with all my modifications last night. Just like this...even with a 19T and a modified R manifold for the EGR. All tucked under the heat shield. Time for the 20G

Very nice! This gives me a bit more confidence that mine will pass. Though it shouldn't be a problem with all the CARB stickers I have under the hood... haha. BTW, did your old heatshield work for the R manifold, or did you have to use a newer style?

the heatshield that came on the car bolted up to the R mani in two spots, worked great. The turbo water cooler line to heatshield to manifold is missing so I just put a nut/bold through the water line to heat shield.

Beware of 96+, you cannot modify the intake. I am a 95.

What all did you have to change over?

Only my exhaust downpipe. I take off the OBX and put on my modified (angle housing) OEM downpipe with OEM cat.

What a pain :glare: Engine bays looking clean!

By the way.. do you have stronger rods to go along with that 20g? Or is it not needed?

Three bolts for the flange and a v-band clamp...not difficult.

My motor is built, I have h-beams.

Find a county that does not require the smog check every 2 years, get a PO Box and your good. Mendocino County only requires a smog check on initial registration, as long as you pay the reg on time yearly.

Most everywhere requires a physical address though. That's why I like Arizona. I see turbo diesel pickups with 8" stacks coming out of the bed ... A OK ... lol
