Re-Introduction

Hey everyone just want to re-introduce myself to the volvospeed community as I have not been active in the community just been working on my old car and other things. I know a few of you guys Ben (Bmac) , Ian Carr, and Billy. I had a 1995 19t, m56h, TTusb Yellow T5R but I decided to sell that car and I purchased another yellow T5R. Most of you will know it. It is Doug K's old car. I did purchase this car because I remember back in high school following the build and drooling over it. In my head saying "one day I will buy it" and this past August/September 2012 I was not letting this opportunity pass me by! I felt I could not reproduce the car for the price i got it for. I know what I was getting into 2 owners since Doug, may have some issues etc etc. But let me tell you the car is sound, and just needs a little TLC to make it perfect. I do have somethings that I would like to do to make it better etc etc. The car is a true pleasure to drive and I am very happy with it. I have spoken to Doug a few times through the buying phase and when I got the car and I cannot begin to tell you how nice and helpful that guy is.

Doug did originally sell the car with out somethings that I did not know of like the Civinco ECU was taken out, and the Kaplhenke adjustable control arms were removed when one failed him.

I am located in New York and currently the car is hibernating for the winter. Below are some pictures of the car the second it came off the trailer, and one at the Rolex GT series at Lime Rock. Hope to see you guys at some meets once the weather breaks! lol

Enjoy, Matt.

I was just wondering a couple days ago what happened to Doug's yellow. Glad to see it still is working and together. Great car. I remember driving back from Tahoe in '06 and following Doug in that beast. When he stomped on the gas he would pull away in a cloud of smoke and torque steer. I hope you or one of the previous owners have done the LSD that car deserves. Good find, have fun with it man. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of this car as you enjoy owning a special Volvo. (and one of the major inspirations towards creating my Volvo)

Yes, it was an inspiration to alot of people. My goals for the car are to keep is as nice as possbile (pretty much everyones goal with a car.), new tires, get rid of the fart can not too keen on it, get a proper tune for it depending on time and money (VEMS or TTUSB), and maybe a slightly larger turbo, maybe. I do not was to sacrifice driveablity because i will be driving it alot in the spring/summer/early fall months. The previous owner told me he wanted to do a tear down and rebuild, idk why? I do not think it needs it, Engines only got 25xxx on it. oh and it does have the gripper LSD in it already so thats taken care of. I went to the garage today just to start it for a litte bit so here is a picture of how she lies right now.

welcome!

i remember seeing this car at an ikea meet back in the day in philly... its crazy that its been all over the states! congrats and keep us updated with it

Yeah, I was at that meet with my old T5R. Its funny because my old 242ti I sold to get my T5R was there, and then my future car was there as well lol.
