lookforjoe
2.5ohms for be exact. that should work though yes - forgot to note that my meter reads .03 across the terminals, so 2.5-2.6ohms would be it
Über855R
Do you have racing seats and harnesses? Personally I wouldn't ditch the airbag until I had these points covered. I mean what's a Volvo without safety? I am sure it will feel good holding that wheel when you drive down the road. But it wouldn't feel so good leaving a dent in your face should the unthinkable happen. All that aside. I like the personal.

Drove for over 20 years without driver's airbag in my various cars. Wearing seatbelts prevent contact with steering wheel in any "normal" collision. I'll have much more than that to worry about in a collision where the cabin is compromised to the extent that I am able to impact the steering wheel while wearing the seat belt (especially with the charged tensioner ones used since the early 90's). I'm not gonna sweat it.
Über855R
You make some valid points. Almost any accident involving much speed you will have bigger problems. Well, it looked like you were close. Any more pics of the install?

Well, it looked like you were close. Any more pics of the install? Waiting for the Momo wheel. Due sometime this coming week. These were all spare parts I was working with, haven't removed anything from the wagon, it's too f'king cold out.
Über855R
It's too f'king cold out. I would try to relate because it's been cold here also. But you get another level of cold over there. Ours is like summer by comparison.
lookforjoe
Installed the Momo, which arrived this afternoon. remove airbag, remove center bolt install modded contact reel, hub & wheel SRS light came on after a bit, so I stripped the '98 contact reel and dropped resistance to 1.9-2ohms (.4ohms resistance in leads). This time, I left the center section with the indicator cancelling cam. Left two small pegs, so I can see about drilling detents into the underside of the hub Also, the column cover upper clips broke off, so I bonded spring clips to the cover. lookforjoe
added extended pins to seat in the back of the hub drilled 1/2" deep locating holes for the pins, 10 & 4 o'clock for proper offset of the indicator cam Still have the SRS light - tried two different resistors, including the Volvo 'tool/resistor', and couldn't turn it off with the (Volvo) diagnostic tool. I'll have to make a couple more resistor packs, slightly higher resistance; I'm presuming the lack of the contact reel spool is a factor, although I didn't measure any resistance to speak of through just the winding itself. lookforjoe
Still no go on the various resistors I've tried. Anyone know or have a few 1watt 1 or 2 ohm resistors? Did a search on Mouser.com, and there are so many variables I have no clue what a plain old fuckin resistor is called!

He has one ohm as well - so I'll get a pack of each.

lookforjoe
Nardi adaptor hub. Machined ID to 56mm, with a 6mm deep 60mm ID step (to fit my X1/9) installed in the wagon modified the Personal horn button to include the ground contact for Momo hub Personal 330mm too small a wheel (this is meant for my X1/9 anyway), but they do feel nice. I like the thumb hooks better than the Momo.
lookforjoe
resistors arrived last night, so Monday I can hopefully try resetting. I'm wondering whether the connector on the '98 contact reel is a contributing factor. It has a capacitor in series, and when checked with an ohm meter, the '98 contact reel doesn't show continuity. I threw away the connector when I gutted the '98 contact reel. Anyone got one on a dead contact reel? Is 850 the same green connector? '99-00 version has a white connector, and shows basically no resistance when checked with an ohm meter, but this doesn't work on the '98 setup (to clear SRS light)
