Backup Camera 850 Wagon

I'm considering installing a backup camera on the 855. To make things simple, I'm planning on buying one of the license plate mounted cameras....

How/where would I run the wiring into the cargo compartment to wire to the reverse light wires?

Would I need to remove the outside lock/handle assembly? If so, any writeups on how to remove that long assembly on the outside of the tailgate?

Get something other than the license plate ones. There are a lot of very clean cameras that would mount great in the flat space where our license plate lights go.

I bought one like this to go in when I do my new carpc build:

plate cam suck ass, have to trim tag to fit it on some units.

just spring for the money and buy the alpine 104 unit...worth the $90, for a unit that lasts and works..no need to swap out cameras all the time cause they fail

NONE of mine are plate style

above the plate alpine something camera i got for free since customer said i could have it because it was "broken" guess not

no

thru boot and thru tailgate..pain in the ass..use lube LOL wd40 for the wires to go thru easier

yes..IDK..remove from inside tailgate with cover off, not from outside.

damn...that's what i was afraid of steve.....i just did the tailgate repair a couple of weeks ago, and now removing it will definitely break some of the new clips....damnit

i thought the camera had to be centered, but apparently not....there is some flat space right next to the handle...perfect.....maybe some strong 3m would hold it??

Dang this guy puts backup cameras on everything.

Couldn't you just reach behind you out the window and feel what's behind in the mini?

Just messing around thanks for the input. I have been considering this also. I wanted to remove the wiper and put it in the hole. Just don't want to disassemble my non creaking tailgate after doing the repair job.

I'm sure many will flame, but I recently installed a Koolertron license plate camera and I really like it. Plus it was $15 on amazon. Read some reviews that said people had issues with water collecting inside the lens, but with our monsoon like conditions and a few car washes recently I haven't had any issue. To install I cut up an old license plate frame and made a mount directly above the plate so it didn't obstruct anything. Will try and snap a pic tomorrow.

this is why i am a snob....i honestly look down inferior products. I cant be installing junk because it just keeps coming back and back and back and back and back for the same old shit over and over. you make $10 but end up loosing 4 hours fucking with it to no end...thats the beauty of internet sales on cheap shit...no one returns it becaue of shipping...me they come pounding on my counter demanding a refund...fuck that, i'll have to shoot him
