8" Free Air Subs In Rear Deck With Line Level Converter, Amp And Proper Impedance

I want to install a pair of 8" subs in the rear deck where the stock rear speakers are, by using a line level adapter, stock sc-816 and an aftermarket amp. Since the rear door speakers are wired in parallel with the rear deck speakers, is there a way to keep them functional with the LLC? If I was to do this, I imagine the doors would probably be underdriven since they are 8 ohm speakers and will no longer really be in parallel with another pair of speakers.

Can this work?

Should the subs and amp be 8ohm, 4ohm or does it matter?

What if I was to use a DIN to RCA cable hooked up to the back of the sc-816 and provide sound to the amp with that? Should the wires going to the stock rear deck speakers be connected together or left unplugged?

Been discussed before, general consensus seems to be that it can probably be physically installed. BUT, the rattle that subs would generate in the rear deck might not make the setup worth it.

I don't think that'd be the case, as 8" subs are exactly what comes stock in the rear deck of a C70, and they don't rattle obviously.

im not sure but maybe the rear deck of a c70 and the rear deck of an s70 are alot different?.im sure the rattle could be taken car of with rubber and felt though.

Yea I'm not really concerned with the potential for rattle. I think it has been concluded on the forums before, that covering the deck with dynamat will solve the rattle.

What I am trying to figure out here is from a speaker wiring standpoint, what is the best way to go about this?

That's a C70, not an S70, rear is totally different. Also, calling those dinky little things subs is pretty generous.

The AUDIOPHILE Dynaudios in my cars do just fine for my taste, and would be a suitable upgrade to an S70 IMHO. I've heard of people making them fit.

The size isn't what I was talking about... 8" subs can be great, just not used C70 ones. If you're going to modify your S70 to fit deeper 8" speakers or subs, why use old C70 ones? I've heard them, my mother has an '04 C70 with them, they're not all that.

Your wrong. Your mothers C70 (being 2004) is a convertible and thus doesn't have the speakers I'm referring to at all.

Try listening to the system in a coupe, they are really quite nice sounding! Your moms has 6" woofers in the back so yeah those are dinky...

Yeah they don't, coupes sound amazing IMO, I have 2 of them now. Also does your moms have a SC816? Cause SC816s suck ass and kill the quality of Dynaudio, you need a 901 to unleash the sound.

Keep in mind that not all the coupes have Dynaudio either...It cost extra.

our head units are garbage by todays standards in my opinion a nice eclipse or clarion or if you really want to splurge mcintosh head unit is what you need for real sound quality.well youll need good wiring and a good amp with some quality speakers as well.
