boxpin
I purchased a set of V70 handles. Painted them yesterday and went to install them today to find out the Passenger front door requires a longer arm than the rear doors. CRAP!! Did I get ripped off or are the door mechanisms in the later front doors set up like the rears? Rears went in fine. Front drivers will take some time due to the lock mech. The passenger side on an 850 has a lock too. I did not realize that they were also deeper in the door. I put the handle in the door and the bolts to mount it dont even match so it looks like you need two handles like the drivers door but this set did not have a longer one for the passenger front. Did I get ripped? (pretty pissed since this was custom matched paint)
lookforjoe
V70 passenger front handle is longer offset - matches the driver's front, just no lock cylinder. If you got three short offset & one longer, then you did not get a proper set.
Smiles855R
From what I remember when installing my v70 handles was that the fronts looked different then the rears (portion inside the door). The locks shaft on the s70/v70 was longer than the 850 (about 3/8", the tab at the end) so I just used to passenger side handles and have no locks on the handles. If you want I can pull the front and rear handles and take a photo to show the differences Past threads that might help a little.
lookforjoe
I have spare V70 handles in my garage - I can take pics tomorrow if needed - no reason to go to all the trouble of removing yours, Smiles855R. I used a pass side on the DS, to get rid of the lock.
boxpin
I used a pass side on the DS, to get rid of the lock. do you rely on the hatch lock in case of a dead fob? I dont think anyone needs to get me pictures etc...it really makes sense that they are different. Wonder how this happened with the person who sold them to me. Must have been a wrecker or something where they just grapped three of one type and the drivers. Well, now I am looking for a passenger front handle if anyone sees this and has one. goldponcho
John, what color? I can grab one, if nobody closer can help out. I've actually let the battery die a few times on mine, and had to shuffle through the tailgate. No fun.
survolvo
I put in a very hidden switch spliced to the lock switch on the dash, just in case of key fob failure.

bum2kev
same here, got rid of the lock on my sedan. I put a manual hidden wire trigger to the trunk pull in case of battery failure.
survolvo
Sneaky sneaky. What's the plan in case of a battery failure? I have cables hooked to the battery with alligator clamps hidden in the bumper so I can hook to another battery without lifting the hood. And I have figured out how to crawl in the trunk, push the center armrest down, reach in and pull the latch on the driver rear seat, push the seat down and unlock the door. I had to do that twice before I decided to put the hidden switch in.
boxpin
I went to the wrecker today and found this gem. A little polish and I am good to go. I picked up a second and next time I am painting I will paint it.
