well just an update. the dash is NOT plug and play at all. i have no idea what some of these guys are doing but its not pug and play.

i spent my entire long weekend, friday-monday working on this.

i should have pictures and a better description of what i had to do later on. if i knew i had to do this much i never would have even attempted it. but i finished it

Sooo, the best way to do an S70 interior swap would be just to do an 850 to S70 swap? lol

Yep just like the NA to Turbo swap. ;)

I just did one of those not too long ago. After I did the NA/Turbo swap the exterior, interior, and wheels also changed as well. Weird.

I got ya beat, swapped my V70 T5m to a sweet C70 T5m back in October!!

Color changed for some reason... And the suede seats went back to boring leather. Magically grew an OBX though! Weird indeed

this is probably the best. its much easier to swap to an s70 then to swap the dashes.

ok well here is my official statement on this.

if you want to do a complete wire harness swap to make everything work you will need a parts car 100%, unless you want to get nickel and dimed on parts your missing like i did.

you WILL spend ATLEAST an entire friday-sunday weekend doing this swap. I dont understand how some of these people did the swap so easy. here are my findings...

i also did not take lots of pictures i got very frustrated and just wanted it to get done

i went with the idea of pulling an entire front under dash harness out ( the one with the 3 big connectors that connect on the driverside kick panel area, not the actual dash itself harness) i thought maybe this would be easier and would be more plug and play for when i swap the ecc box. and from anybody i asked they all said it should be plug and play, SHOULD, that word should have told me to stop right there. anyways

so the main parts that i got were

entire 98 dash with harness

98 ecc

98 under dash harness

(4) 98 doors

well here it goes it will be short and sweet

i had the entire dash out and had it looking like this

anyway i moved on and had the stock 850 climate box removed and swapped in the new s70 climate box. it bolted up 100% no modding. But be carefull i broke my heatercore removing the 850 one i was so mad, it got more and more frustrating.

i had the entire 850 harness out and ready to put the s70 harness in. once i got it in and secured i looked closely and noticed some of the plugs were missing. no they werent cut off the s70 just doesnt have them to make it completely plug and play. like for example

the sunroof controls

this plug does not exist on the s70 harness. and where its located there is currently a different set of wires running there but this is the plug with it on the s70 harness. you notice the same colour wires (****THIS IS NOT TRUE WITH THE REST OF THE HARNESS!)

after i noticed that it almost really frustrated me to the point where i wanted my 850 dash back becuase i knew this would be a problem. i also thought i may have grabbed a 99 or 00 dash harness and thats y it wasn't plug and play. but a trip to the junkyard the day after proved that all s70's dont have this plug and its ran differently

So what i ended up doing was keep the s70 door plugs but had the 850 harness, i felt this was a safer way of taking the approach.

so after 2 days of rewiring this is where i was at

now for the fun unexplainable part....

people say the dash is 100% plug and play, WRONG. i had made sure i got myself a 98 s70 dash.

i went to believe this the entire way, once the wiring didn't work i knew nothing was plug and play it was too good to be true.

one i plugged the dash in and put the key to position 2 to get power, my sunroof started to move..... no button worked on the dash, i had no lights, i had no heated mirrors, all of those buttons did somthign different to the sunroof. the dimmer switch changed the speed of the sunroof......nothing worked so this plug and play business is a lie!

after a bit of comparing to wher some wires go on the 850 main plug i repinned the s70 main plug and made it all work. it all went mint! all the buttons worked, everything was glorius..... atleast i thought.

were still on with the whole plug and play business right?

well, would you beleive me that after all this work the dash didn't fit? well beleive it. i had to trim off the edge closest to the windshield. it seems the s70 windshield has a tighter curve then the 850 so the middle part stills out further and has to be trimmed, it probably took me 10 times of removal and install to make it bareable for me to like unfortunatly i have o pictures of this tho :(

however any questions please just ask and i'll answer. i dont want anybody to attempt this without having some knowledge on it, you have ot know what your getting yourself into. i had zero and was lucky i had a long weekend otherwise i would have been screwed.

Geez. Nooooo thank you. That sounds like way more hassle than it's worth.

trust me if i knew i had to do that much work i would have stopped myself before even buying the dash. i swear the only way to do it 100% right, is you need an ENTIRE s70 parts car thats not missing any piece so you can easily piece by piece just transfer it over

How do the doors work now? Everything all good with the locks and windows and such?

everything works the way it should. i'm chasing a problem to do with the drivers door but doesnt have anything to do with this swap. everything works mint tho. sincei kept my stock 850 harness i had to keep the 850 alarm so i never made the jump to the s70 module and such, that was an even bigger wiring mess. didn't have time or the will power to do it

o i forgot to mention! i broke my heatercore AND my shifter doing this install
