Guest lafawnduhh
Ive shopped this around and got mixed responses. Im considering replacing the head unit in a 2001 s80. Some people told me it wont work, but others say you can have it done. SOmething about a computer malfunction too. But, i think it gives out 25 watts x 4. I dislike the look and feel of the HU-601 ? (the one wiht the cassette and single cd), but dont wanna mess up everything trying to replace it. Help me please.
Bing_0
if you have a premium dolby system, then i would say it will work only if you do one of two things:1. replace al the wiring and speakres2. somehow find an adapater to go into the dolby processor.doa search and see hwat oyu come up with. b
Veneficus
I don't think you would mess up any of the car if you replaced the headunit. I say go for it. As usually I have to say... aftermarket > stock...

volvo4lif3
why would you put a subwoofer in your volvo? very idiotic thing to do. I had 2 15' rockfords in my 1998 chevy blazer, and it tore it apart. Anything, you name it, was rattling in my vehicle. I have the dolby surround sound in my s80, and i love it. I don't think id ever replace it, unless it went bad. Don't be a fool and tear up such a beautiful car. It'd be such a shame..

Rattling can be cured by using dampening materials that make the pannels fit better. I'm sorry and I don't mean to insult but I think Volvos are good for quiet audio more so than some american cars because the interior is made of more expensive materials and thus generally fits better (except for maybe the dash but thats another story). And 2 15"s in a Chevy blazer is a bit of overkill imo. One 10" or 12" sub is good enough for me. Just enough to make a nice tight thump that you feel in your chest. Have a good day. ;)
