Black 850, Carbon Fiber Hood?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of throwing some Carbon Fiber 3M vinyl on my hood, trunk (spot between the lights/licence plate) and maybe mirror covers this summer.

The car is a black 850, with black projector headlights and ipd mesh grill.

Anyone think this will look good?

Does anyone have pictures of a similar setup? (preferably on a black car lol)

Thanks!

not bad, did you place it yourself, or had it done professionally?

any problems with rain or snow?

thanks!

I tried it and botched it. Then had a pro do it after I prepped the hood twice. :glare: (Hood required two pieces, the seam is a few inches above the lowest part of the grill in this case.)

Durability is fine so far, but have exercised caution removing frozen debris. Don't let bird bombings hang out too long on it either. I have a spot where I've essentially lightened it by cleaning it too much.

What material did you use? I'm torn between 3M DI-NOC and 3M 1080.

Caaaaaaambaaaaaaaaaah! So, I'm thinking about doing the same because my clearcoat is peeling pretty gnarly. Do I have to sand it down first?

Five Benjamins to do hood and roof. At the beginning I thought it would be quicker/cheaper than painting, but with all the prep I did, I dunno. Could have sprayed it for less maybe.

Anyhow, the outfit I used is south of Lynchburg, but I would think there's tons of groovy vinyl cats up your way. The Lynchburg guys are actually a sign company, but I'll shoot you their info.
