scandalo
So I bought at 2003 C70 vert with a spun rodbearing that has a LPT B5244t7. This motor has limited applications and my options are few when it comes to replacements. Volvo changed the motor designation in 2003 to the T7 with the 99-02 being the T3 for the all LPT models (XC,SVC70, S60). What is the difference? Am I gonna run into problems using the T3? I have read a couple of threads put I have doubts when I am about to drop serious coin on a motor that may or may not fit. I have dropped a 2.5 in a 98 V70R so I am not unfamiliar with the RN vs Pre RN motors.
jschaefer7406
Hello, I'm sure someone else will chime in with more info, but the biggest things that come to mind (as far as differences) should be easy to work around. The '03 should have dual CVVT, while the older engine would only have it on the exhaust cam. Rods and pistons also changed, using a longer rod and shorter piston skirt. Doesn't make a bit of difference, being you're going to swap the entire engine (or at least the block). You'd need to reuse the head off of the '03 to retain the dual CVVT. Other than that, should be pretty straight-forward. Again, there are many here who have done these swaps that can offer more info, but those are the things that come to my mind . Hope this helps, Joe
scandalo
I was trying to figure out if the rods and pistons were different. The car is a single VVT so that isn't a problem.
