gdizzle
My wife got the DC44 "animal" for her birthday a little over a month ago, and the damned thing never works. Dyson has sent us single part to replace and it still doesn't work. It'll work for a minute, shut off, and then not work for days. I have 3 batteries and all 3 do the same thing. I have 2 DC44 bodies, they do the same thing. I have 2 " cyclone" bodies, no difference. WTF Dyson. Don't waste your money people.

Dick Dastardly
just occurred to me...back in Nov. when I had carpet installed the installers apologized and said they couldn't vacuum up when they were finished because their vac. died at their last job.. yep, you guessed it... and the second installer chimed in that they are garbage.."I don't know why he'd even use one".. Burn-E
Good to know - we've been looking to replace the POS kenmore canister vacuum that is slowly dying in spite of my efforts to replace defective parts - it's not even 5 years old. The whole state of vacuum design pisses me off. My mother had an Electrolux for 30 years that just wouldn't die in spite of my efforts as a kid to kill it so I could get out of that chore. I have a "friend" who thought it would be a great idea to recommend our name and provide our phone number to a Kirby salesman. I had to tell their telesales girl 6 different times to quit calling me before they finally gave up calling. I'm going to look into an industrial vacuum in hopes of finding something that actually works and holds up to use.
Bonus Lane Man
We have the DC24 and it's been great so far.
Matty Moo
Had a dc24 that lasted a bit over a year. It was just a shitty vacuum and the parts were way too expensive, the bar found a way to blow itself out and then started flaking out electrically. It was one of the only things I've ever given up on and threw in the trash. But, we do have a dc07 that we've had for 5 years and it kicks ass. I use it to vacuum the carpet in my garage and shop, it just keeps going. We also have a Dc14 that works really well. Both were bought refurbished from Woot. I take them apart and clean them with the air compressor every few months. My wife runs a cleaning business and has six Hoover Windtunnels, she says they work better than the Dysons do. pdlarson
We've had a Dyson vacuum for years and it works well on various smooth and carpeted floors we have. We got the DC44 animal for Christmas, I use it more than my wife, so far so good.
Q-Ship
I love the ~$90 Hoover cyclones @ Target, etc. They always test as high or higher than Dyson and are easy to replace every 5-6 years.
