atefitty
Does anyone know a local machine shop that can build my b5234t5 motor?. I did a 3rd gear pull and it sounds like I bent a rod. I've been driving with an ARD green tune from Lucky for almost a year and it has been great until now. I have stock internals. There's got to be someone here in Washington that can build my engine. I've been talking with Josh from TKI racing and he is working on some numbers for me but he is in NJ. Just wanted another option locally that maybe I can better afford. I miss driving my 850r. Everyday I keep seeing those annoying Subies with their loud exhaust that sounds like a misfire..uggh. I attached a link for your listening pleasure. http://s164.photobucket.com/user/atefitty/media/001-2_zps507c1c03.mp4.html
BlackT5
Sounds like a rod to me. Any machine shop should be able to assemble the bottom end. Are you doing any of the other assembly yourself?
Zappo
Yeah, I know that sound too well. I had RSI build my last engine and I am quite happy with their work. They were also able to pick it up and bring it back to where I had the car. Give them a call. Keep in mind that this is probably the worst time to start a build as all the machine shops will be busy and it may take a week or so for them to even look at the parts, let alone work on them. Noboby bends rods in November.

Zappo
Yes, if you pull the pan you should be able to see the slight wave in the rods. Look up towards the top of the rods. Do you have a link to RSI? I will check them out. http://r-sportinternational.com/ Tell them George sent you. I don't know if that will help you or not. BlackT5
You can also look for nicks on the crank counterweights where the top of the rod has hit.
atefitty
I'm bummed that I threw a rod but excited to have the engine built and upgrade the turbo to a 18t. Wish I could of enjoyed my manual swap a little longer though, just got it in a few months ago....damn.
Zappo
Well, hopefully it is just bend rods and you haven't damaged much else.
RZT5
Do you have any idea what caused the bent rod? A 15G won't bend a rod unless something went wrong. I don't know about the Seattle area, but in the portland area there are a number of places I would call to see who they recommend for engine building. English Racing, PSI, ETS, Surgeline etc... Any machine shop that focuses on high performance rebuilds should be able to do it for you.

My car has a tune so the boost is turned up higher than stock. thanks for the recommendations on engine builders. I've talked with TKI Racing in NJ and R Sport in Portland so far. Waiting on estimates from both.
MisfitJ03
Yup that's a bent rod. I bent my rods on a 16T and ARD green tune. It's difficult, but obviously possible. What TCV do you have and what is your waste gate set to?
