gottarollwithit
Just got the car back from a 2 mo stay with my mechanicHad a rebuilt bevel gear installed (parts were difficult to source). Bevel gear was just leaking oil - not damaged though.Current known problems before going to the mechanic:-CEL from O2 sensors. Running new O2 sensors and still lights CEL. Tried new AMM and still didn't help.-Shuddering when in reverse. Originally thought to be bevel gear slippage, but more likely a dying viscous coupling. True diagnosis?History:Transmission went a looooong time without an oil change. Did several drain/refills last year, which ultimately dislodged something internally and caused a short bout of delayed upshifts. I dumped in a can of Seafoam trans clean, which dissolved the clot of gunk that was starving areas of the trans. Shifted perfectly afterwards and had the trans professionally flushed to get the Seafoam out. Now, any ideas why i can't get reverse to engage? Upon shifting to R, i get nothing. It's as if the car is in neutral. When in D, everything is fine though. Maybe a sticking solenoid?? Maybe the TCM needs a reflash? That's what my Volvo tech buddy thinks.Anybody know a shop in Sac with VADIS/Volvo diagnostic tools to read/update/troubleshoot my software? DVolvoguy850T5
Just got an 02 xc and may have regrets. Have an issue with the fan already. I would google transmition issues and read from there. I did after the purchase and have an ill stomach. Wish I had read more issues before I bought it.
Keaton85
Your 02 is not like the 00. He actually has a tranny worth saving! Sounds like your reverse is shot, pretty common if you were already having issues. Try sourcing a used tranny!
