Wow... just wow.

Gary, I just finished re-watching that zonation video that you posted a couple of pages back,(the one that I +1'd you for) and it struck me that the behavior that he described at the 1:54 mark is apparently the same behavior that TM's dad was doing.

They described the community that dad lived in as middle class, so it seems that the dad was a middle class guy, more than likely possessing middle class values. Then I thought about the fact that he and TM's mom were divorced, and that it was entirely possibly, and highly probable, that TM was sent to his dad's to get "straightened out" after being suspended from school.

Which lead me to conclude that TM's dad seems to be an average guy who was dealing with what he considered was a rebellious teen.

All of that made me wonder this...

Knowing what you know and feeling how you feel now...

What advice would you give to the next middle class black dude struggling with a rebellious male teen?

How would you tell them to instruct their son to handle the situation if/when that son was accused of WWB* in the middle class community of Warner-Robins, Ga?

*walking while black

edit: what advise would any of you guy provide?

If your definition of WWB means just finished smoking a blunt, recently finished drinking a cough syrup concoction, then walking a neighborhood looking for a home to break in to, then I would have to tell him to ready himself for whatever he brings on himself. The question in itself is a cop out. "my son did this because he is rebellious" is the king of cop outs. Teach your child right and the consequences of wrong and you wont have to go there. He can then WLAE* and nobody would care.

* walk like an Egyptian.

I don't remember reading that TM had just finished off a blunt, had some type of syrup and was casing the neighborhood for a home to break into. Perhaps you can link me to that article? Never mind, that's irrelevant to the question that i asked - instead, why don't answer my question as to what you think that should some young black law abiding person should do if they find themselves in a similar scenario?

Golden rule, man, golden rule. You can walk away. But that ain't gangsta-like. So live by the sword/ die by the sword if you want to be like that. A lot of people have lost any sense of personal responsibility, (read as upbringing) and it shows up in our culture by shit just like this. God, I'm glad I live in the sticks.

As for your last question......just akrite. Simple as that.

akrite, huh?

Well, there you have it.

You can't get much more subjective answer than that!

It's not good enough that the black person is law abiding - they also need to make sure that they "akrite" at all times...

You sir, have just answered the question as to why everyone is protesting.

I don't where you're from but here, a pot smoking thief is not a law abiding citizen.

Check it out... I have never been arrested or charged for anything. I hold a security clearance, level secret. And I caught flak all the time from cops when I was 15, because I wouldn't "akrite." I used to wear giant jncos and kikwear jeans. I looked like a stoner/punk, and I got treated like one. Surprise surprise.

Do you remember Antonio West?

Hello. Don't recognize me? That's OK; I understand.

12087903.jpg

My name was Antonio West. I was the 13-month old child who was shot in the
face at point blank range by two black teens, who were attempting to rob my
mother, who was also shot in March of this year.

I think my murder and my mommy's wounding made the news for maybe a day, and
then disappeared.

A Grand Jury of my mommy's peers from Brunswick, Georgia ruled the black
teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty... too bad it was me who
got the death sentence from my killers instead, because Mommy didn't have the
money they demanded.

See, my family made the mistake of being white in a 73% non-white
neighborhood, but my murder wasn't ruled a 'hate crime'.

Oh, and President Obama didn't take a single moment to acknowledge my
murder. He couldn't have any children who could possibly look like me - so why
should he care?

I'm one of the youngest murder victims in our great Nation's history, but
the media didn't care to cover the story of my being killed in cold blood.

There isn't a white equivalent of Al Sharpton, because if there was he would
be branded a 'racist'. So no one's rushing to Brunswick, Georgia to demonstrate

and demand 'justice' for me. There's no 'White Panther' party, either, to put a

bounty on the lives of the two black teens who murdered me.

I have no voice, I have no representation, and unlike those who shot me in
the face while I sat innocently in my stroller - I no longer have my life.

Isn't this a great country?

So while you're out seeking 'justice for Trayvon', please remember to seek

'justice' for me. Tell your friends about me, tell you families, get tee-shirts

with my face on them, and make the world pay attention, just like you did for

Trayvon.

I won't hold my breath though. I don't have to anymore.
