vmzoller
The most oddly shaped car I've ever seen. Still cool though
Gideon35T
I'm not saying I'd drive it to pick up the babes ;-) ... Still interesting though. Appears to be the stock wheelbase as well.
vmzoller
Eh, I think the wheelbase has been elongated... If you compare to a stock one:
gmsgltr
different model and base v70 but yea its been lengthened haha cool pic
vmzoller
Granted, but I doubt the wheelbase changed much on the stock ones. I wonder how much work went in to lengthening it...seems like a lot of effort just to make it into an ambulance haha.
5cyl
this is silly.
Gideon35T
Based on the rear door location compared to the posted pic I agree it's been elongated. 6-8" by the looks of it assuming the doors themselves are normal. I wonder if it's a stock rear end with overload springs and tougher struts or if they had to go with coilovers. Also ... Anyone notice the shape of the side rear glass is ... unnecessary ? T-5BattleWagon
I think the shaping makes a bit of sense, it has a sliding rear door, so the glass needs to be far enough away to allow some structural strength while allowing it to dip down so you can see more ground level stuff before opening the door. If I had to guess at the design meeting minutes.

Big Will
Volvo S80 ambulances are pretty standard in Sweden along with VW buses. There are also some based on the large Mercedes car platforms. Personally, I couldn't imagine working in the back of the S80 ambulances given the low height of the roof but I think the concept is based more around safely transporting everyone.
