Vibration In Drive

Car vibrates BAD in drive while stopped. Rear view mirror shakes, interior rattles. In idle and park it almost completely goes away. As soon as I begin to accelerate the vibration is gone also. Car is just not pleasant to drive at the moment.

Mounts less than 1 year old with maybe 1000 miles : Both hydros, front mount under crank, 4 new subframe bushings. (all oem except front mount which is uro)

Older mounts around 5 years old: Upper ipd poly mount, qbm poly firewall mount, original IPD poly trans mount.

My guess would either be the shitty uro front mount, or the old ipd trans mount. Before I fixed my rms, the trans mount was usually covered in oil. Are my symptoms pointing towards the trans mount? Only thing is... it shifts nice. No clunks going into drive or reverse, and pretty smooth driving.

Likely the transmission mount...PO installed one of the Poly mounts on my R and it's obnoxious. It's actually embarrassing when others are in the car. I'll be replacing with rubber very soon.

Yea my girl doesn't like it my friends talk shit and my mom asked me a few days ago if the car was safe to drive  . Been going on for a half year at least and it just recently intensified. So a bad transmission mount is likely to transmit vibration in drive but less in neutral? Not many topics I can find on this.

Have someone put the car in drive, and keep their foot on the brake. Pop the hood, loosen the top mount and retighten it, all while the car is in drive.

Re-did the top mount in drive (did nothing).

Shit man. Feel like I just bought it. This was before I knew that uro was trash. But thats my guess too adam... it feels like the motor is sitting on the subframe. Think I'm going to buy it tonight, then if that doesn't fix it...tranny mount. And if that doesn't work... who wants my car?

That will fix the vibration, trust me. I forgot to mention in my earlier post that this actually has happened to me on two Volvos. Both times it was the mount under the crank pulley.

URO is absolute trash. The fact that the mount went bad so quickly doesn't surprise me. In fact, it's expected. I used URO parts on a PCV replacement a couple years ago. I had to redo the entire job less than 6 months later.

I had a nasty vibration too, changed the passenger engine mount by the subframe, now it's smooth as silk.

Got mine from FCP:

Volvo Mount Front Right (850 S70 V70 C70) - Lemfoerder (OEM) 8631698L

After spending almost 7K on this car so far, this has been of the best and most satisfying items ($80) i've done.

If they made this mount in polyurethane, it'll probably make the vibrations worse. I'd buy one just to see.

if a mount fail then it will sag and hit the subframe. so every car is different. while one mount will fix your vibration it doesn't mean it will fix other car. just check which one is bad and change it. maybe there is more than one that is worn out so don't give up.

Yea the only old mounts left are the trans mount and firewall mount.

Although one thing I did notice, my new oem front mount was about half an inch higher than the uro one. Had to jack the engine up a little to line up the holes. I spoke to soon in claiming it fixed nothing, the car does feel a little tighter.
