Ghost Shadow
DISCLAIMER: Train horns are not for everyone. I am sure on this forum like all the other forums, there are going to be people that will hate me for this mod and there are those that are going to love it. I own my retail store, these mods i do to my car, is a tool for me to sell and install product! Do i abuse the power of having loud horns? NO, i dont do the @SSHAT stuff you see on youtube hornblaster videos. I do use it when other drivers feel the need to double park next to a empty parking spot so they can "holla at their man" and i have to drive around them into on coming traffic. I use them when the @SSHAT that is talking on the phone and driving at the same time that isnt paying attention whiel driving. It only took 3 months for me to resist the urge to install train horns into my latest ride. 2003 toyota 4 runner v8 Horns are going up front behind the bumper. here they are mounted up thats all i got so far today. I do have to work on customers cars too LoL! tomorrow tank and compressor get installed. goal of this install....stuff everything i can under the hood of the truck going to do the fresh air feed for the compressor from the air intake box Enjoy....in case you need to know how they sound....click the picture to load the video. Ghost Shadow
what prompted this installation. Was the following this morning. Coming down the street, double parked trash truck facing the wrong way down a two way street. So I go around following a Ford expedition. Driver stops next to the trash truck so the pos garbage picker upper can "Holla at a shortie" ghetto talk for Hey babe how you doing? Ass hole gave me the finger, the wait a minute finger. .. not that one you were thinking of. This goes on for 2 minutes. ..I timed it, not shitting you. Finally they exchange numbers and I get to leave..... less than 4 blocks down the same street another trash truck. ... same shit again, this time it's "his homie" arrg life in the ghetto. When I drive my volvo, I patiently wait it out and then as I pass by I give them the horn when they are closest to thehorns. This way the ringing in their ears will remind them of how big of a asshole they are.
Mesoam
i am definitely conflicted on this ....on one hand i love how it can be a great way to teach some douchenozzle a lesson, on the other hand i find them obnoxious as....
cruzer555
Eh I don't find it obnoxious unless its at night when people are sleeping or something. In the day all you are doing is making 2 seconds of noise, people will survive lol.

survolvo
So how much does one of these set ups run? Can you supply all the horns and compressors and such. I think it might really help people get the point that the signs saying " SLOW TRAFFIC USE TURNOUTS" mean get the hell outta my way. My measly little Volvo horn just gets me mean looks through their mirrors and eventually the finger. Not the one you were talking about either. I want these horns in my life, no I NEED them! And yes I am serious. Let me know how much this would cost and if you can get or suggest where to get the parts.
hotpantslovebug
something like this? http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=shocker-228vx-train-horn-kit never felt the need to install one but this thread makes me want to just have one for "just in case" purposes. I love the idea but would feel horrible if i blew someones ears out if they are within 100ft.

It's not going to actually blow someone's ears out LOL, it's loud enough but really not as loud as you think. For instance from 15 feet away it didnt blow my ears out. Ghost Shadow
it uses sharkbite fittings? sharkbite? the air lines? Also, guys there are tons of stuff to know about these horns and compressors. horns are one thing, but the compressor and tank is another. for you guys i suggest getting round tank, so it can fit under your spare tire ViAir 380C 100% duty cycle @ 100 psi the one that comes in the "kit" is a cheap one and only meant for 30% duty @ 100psi. that means. if you run it for 10 minutes it needs to be off for 35 minutes plus the 10 minutes = 45minutes to cool off. 100% duty mean on all the time no cooling off period! these compressors are more money but heavy duty! and its only $30-50 more but replacing a compressor is like average $200 then add in the train horns. most of you guys with 850/x70's will be able to stuff everything under the floor and hide it ALL!!! the horns will be in the area opossite the oem exhaust. this custom setup will cost more but final install will be along the lines of this....see nothing, no tanks, just third row seating. this is in my V70R!! Oreo931
I've wanted train horns for a while now, but there's something in the back of my head that worries me. Let's say another driver pulls a dickface move, and you sound the train horns. The offending driver gets startled and causes an accident, or runs into a guard rail, etc. I think in that situation you could be found liable. Just my $.02.
