boxpin
Working on installing the 3" maf housing. Just excited and wanted to show some comparison pictures. Lucky has finished the new Map for my Black tune. New silicone hoses are starting to show up. 3" intake being made. Battery rotate to allow for a Jag housing and a little secret I will show later. Should have it running in about a week. Sensor fit perfect. OEM fits inside it.
hotpantslovebug
Some nice info, found these awhile back and never understood why no one has used them to fix our maf issues. Did you purchase this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-25-82-55mm-MAF-HOUSING-AIR-STRAIGHTENER-MK3CORRADO-JETTA-GOLF-PASSAT-AUDI-MK3-/251289045067?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a81fe884b Do you know if there would be any added benifit to getting the larger 3.5 OD, 3.25 ID version? If not ill be purchasing the above.

B Mac
Looks nice, John. Much better than my hacked up Audi maf housing . I think I'll grab one of these as well.

boxpin
Checkout the tuners rejoice thread for A ton of info on new mafs. Thanks. You guys are making great progress but I dont understand it enough to gamble with my engines life. The new map to accommodate the 3" MAF has already been done by ARD. Unless you are planning on using a much larger than stock turbo, and other hardware changes to intake & exhaust, there is no reason to even use a 3" housing, never mind a 3.25/3.5 ID version. Everything on the intake side of the turbo will be new. Looking forward to pics of the reworking. Always good to see how others layout their intake system. survolvo
I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I am going to have to get up there and check this out in person soon. Or you could always take a trip down this way and bring the family.

I understand a tune is a must as rescaling is needed. Since our Mafs can be max out even with a 16T I was under the impression a 3" housing(retune) would be a worthy upgrade. I apologize - without some background context it's difficult to know whether a poster has looked into what's involved beyond it seeming to be a good idea. What we need to see are some Dyno pulls on setups still running TD04's, with the larger MAF housing, to substantiate whether it has any merit on a stock hardware setup, rescale or no.
